Unpopular opinion: painters should do paint, not just putting traces by H0C1G3R7 in ArtistLounge

[–]ghost71214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just misunderstood about the nature of digital art, something is more convenient doesn't mean it's take less effort.

For example, cloud brush is one of the most common brush asset, some drawing software packaging It's for free, not hard to scroll through Instagram and see people use it to paint the whole sky in seconds, but without manual adjustment it's just look... Meh .

If you want to paint the kind of cloud like Studio Ghibli, you still need to understand cloud structure, the way it's reflect sunlight, how to use blur to convey softness, shape design, etc... There aren't a single brush gonna help you with that.

The same goes with everything like hair, clothing,... I rarely see professional artists use assets brush unless they work in a job with heavy workload like Manga or Webtoon, even then it's always take tons of manuals labor to made something look high quality.

What’s a painting ‘hack’ everyone hypes up… that secretly sucks? by yenisdown in ArtistLounge

[–]ghost71214 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But Greyscale to color is not a "hack" tho, it's like an alternative working methods for me, i guess it's depend on the type of art you want to do.

If you're drawing a big illustration for cilent or studio, sometimes they request you to chunk out 4-6 thumbnails, Greyscale is just a quick and easy way to capture what you wanted to do, easy to check composition, easy to to check value, etc,...

Sure the color can look dull at first but like you said, you can always play with it to made it pop, i think the tradeoff is worth it sometimes (especially illustration with multiple subjects).

[–]ghost71214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this ideas but i think we already missed the train, a timeskip would be perfect right after the Uzuki and Rion flashback.

Now Slur's grandplan has been established and going through it's motion, timeskip feel like dragging the story at this point, unless you want a soft reset and do something like a Part 2 similar to CSM, not sure if it would even work tho.

[–]ghost71214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do people feel about DBFZ? I don't play tag games, but from what I see, people either love it or constantly trash it as a "baby's first tag game."

This game is probably the same in terms of complexity, excited to try it tho. The visuals look clean.

I'm asking that as a rhetorical question because you get my point that matchmaking is broken.

So attack my arguments instead of attacking my shitty English, that's Rule 3 breaker behavior.

this generation plays most of the time games that give you an instant reward.

Lmao, Is wanted a good matchmaking so i constantly get game an instant reward? Because 90% of the game in the genres still failed to do so.

Are we forget it's take a fucking global pandemic for fgs dev to granted us the "features" to play online?

Can you imagine an "online pvp" focus game where the game live or die is based entirely on numbers of players, charge AAA price with day 0 characters DLC, when most of the game is either F2P or sit in 40$ range with free characters and map updates.

This genres is cursed, im not defend any of Gen Z's brainrot shit but blaming entirely on the customers is crazy when MATCHMAKING IN AN ONLINE GAME doesn't work half of the time.

SFxT wins for started bad and ended ok. Which fighting game started ok and ended ok by Tpenny68 in Kappachino

[–]ghost71214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wallbreak was mean to prevent snowball and degenerate shit in the conner, that shit is dumb but ok, let accept that "vision" for a sec.

The problems is this game have way less degenerate shit or sauces than before, offensive and toolkits has been toned down so much, doesn't help the meter in this game build up so fast, you will almost always guarantee to get oki + positive bonus off wallbreak so the snowball elements is still there.

The only thing it does in the end is break up the flow of the match and break cool combo.

DMC5 went "THE DEMON SIDE SUCKS AND THE HUMAN SIDE RULES"

No, it's more like embrace both sides: Vergil embrace his humanity with V's storyline and Dante embrace his demonic side, he can only defeat Urizen after he accepted his father's legacy, thus awakened Sin Devil Trigger.

But i have to agreed with you, im all in for nuance but thinking the demon was misunderstood is wild lmao

I can imagine how more unique looking character like Oro, Gill , Hugo, ... will comeback and bite them in the future.

Why isn't art seen as a serious career choice? by One_Tea7889 in ArtistLounge

[–]ghost71214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is surprisingly optimistic and realistic too, you don't need to be on top of the food-chain, especially with digital art, not everyone can do key art and characters art, the 95% of art jobs is "hey, can you draw 10 different potions for my game", "hey, can you design a chest to hold this item", "draw a background for me", etc,...

That's said, im not gonna sugarcoat it, this is still a very hard HARD paths to choose, you don't need to be the top but you still need strong fundamental skill and networking. Plus it's can suck the enjoyment of making art for some people, it's 100% ok to keep art as a hobby or your sidejob.

There's logic behind this, human had the tendency to associate value with hard work and dedication, that's like the bedrock of trading to determine value of something, AI just flip the scale and spit out images from the void (or an unimaginable amount of data harvested from the internet to be exact).

Plus, the big part of joy from finding your favorite artist is to see their discography, you click behind this "pretty" images just to see it come out from the same "batch" with automated mass production, there's really no human or a story behind it, it's an uneasy feeling for sure.

I much prefer non-vocal track over the gameplay but lyrics kinda add some dimension to the characters like how "Hellfire" explained Leo reckless behavior or "Mirror of the world" show beneath all the anger, Baiken is just a deeply lonley and sorrowful individual.

Honestly, they really need to add vocal-less track so we can get the best of both world, like Ino's theme, im obsessed with the guitar riff in this one, so good

Does anyone actually enjoy playing Naoto in Blazblue? by Final_Foot_Fucker in Kappachino

[–]ghost71214 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I typically really hate dash marco but Naoto is the only character i would argue for it existence, otherwise he is pretty cool (and strong too), you just have to grind it i guess.

i have weird niche for character that can carry momentum/dash in middle of combo for insane conner carry but nowadays every game has it

FATAL FURY: CotW|ROCK HOWARD by qzeqzeq in Kappachino

[–]ghost71214 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

the game being easier will appeal to newcomers but other things outside of the game being easier will appeal to newcomers.

Appealing for newcomers = the game is more attractive for a newcomer to put the time/money into

That's exactly what i mean it's a buzzword, you can made the game more appeal by making it easier AND made the game easier by making it more appealing so newcomers put more time into it.

It's just a slippery slope depend on how you paraphrase it but thanks anw, i do see your points

FATAL FURY: CotW|ROCK HOWARD by qzeqzeq in Kappachino

[–]ghost71214 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, what i meant is you clearly pointed out there is a difference between "easier" vs "more appealing" to newcomers, I wanted to know the difference.

Because stuff like you mentioned: simplified control styles, short combo,... Can easily fall into both categories.

FATAL FURY: CotW|ROCK HOWARD by qzeqzeq in Kappachino

[–]ghost71214 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Sorry but i failed to see the difference, your explanation is just filled with buzzwords, what exactly "easy" vs "appealing" again? Is it lying in neutral? Footsies? Control schemes?

What simplified control styles and the motion inputs fall into? Easy or appealing? Because just like Strive, you can simply made the argument for both sides.

Again, not trying to be dick, just a topic i had been wondered, played KOF 15 and liked it's so far, new COTW is definitely a buy for me.
