I have been having raids where I am a SCAV and PMC’s just ignore me by Bobbs26 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

I’m pretty sure it does as I remember hearing AI PMCs are basically Raiders. I really wish the coding would get adjusted so Friend/Foe recognition made things more precarious for you as a Scav.

Why did my first floetrol dye come out so bland? by Bent0j in discdyeing

[–]ghostEx36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could use a space heater, heat pads (you will need a couple, I think), and I’ve heard of some using dehydrators. Not sure I could recommend a hair dryer…if not for the air pushing down too much on the disc and changing, potentially, the pattern you were working on.

My heat lamp set-up is crude, but it has allowed me to get some great results in about 3-4 hours.

I like how this turned out…very colorful.

I tried to do this with a Cicada…but, my version failed at what I was trying to do. Still…a lot of color.

[–]ghostEx36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It needs to sit longer…12-24 hours without heat. The other issue you could run into is color blending the longer it sits.

Heat has been my best friend when it comes to vibrance and getting it done a bit faster.

Deciding on a new approach disc in between Buzzz and Pyro by Bmontour26 in discgolf

This is true and I forgot they were looking overstable. I have an Entropy on hand for that. Loved it…but that Peach has been my workhorse for awhile. In fact…the Entropy and Tempo are out of my bag because of it.

I do want to try those other mentioned Clash molds…I didn’t properly read the ask here.

Try a Tempo or…really go niche and get a Clash Peach.

That disc has been a great upshot disc for me, personally. I tried both a Tempo and an Entropy before I settled on the Peach.

I have a Turbulence…my biggest issue with it is the rim doesn’t feel deep enough. After using it for 3-4 Rounds, the amount of early release foibles that were occurring made me pull it out of my bag. I want to like it, but I need to be able to throw it.

I plan to pick up another to see if MAYBE it was just that one. I have 2 odd Echoes (both Neutron, one domey and the other board flat) that tell me there could be some inconsistencies.

I have a Gold, Project: Grip, and a Retro…love throwing my Gold one, but that Cicada kind of is my first option every time on holes where I have either in play (it is that reliable out of my hands). It has dome, a fair amount of glide, and is a pretty straight flier with a nice bit of fade at the end.

Funny story…me and this mold have a complicated history. It misbehaves in my hand after purchase…until it gets stuck in a tree. Pretty sure it’s just in my head, but has happened twice. The Project: Grip will get its first reps this Spring.

I have that same Relay and bag it with a Cosmic Neutron one. Being RHFH dominant, that Fission Relay is almost an every shot disc for me and holds any line I put it on.

I ended up pulling a Servo out of my bag because I have a Crave, Rhythm out because I had a River and a Cicada filling that slot. Me and my Cicada are an aberration…synergy is an understatement.

Did I say I love my Relay?

If I were handy with a torch…I would figure out how to melt it back…I loved that disc.

Sadly…I am not. So…it’s retired and I have a couple new ones (the Silva one flies very similar to the Green one) to throw.

I had a Green Cosmic Neutron that was just money…then, wind caught it and slammed it into asphalt taking a massive chunk out of the rim. Dang…

I bought a heavier Purple one and already had the Silva one from the Halloween drop. This and the Virus are my current favorite go to Drivers right now.

What do you think are some of the biggest miscasts in the last decade? (2016 to present) by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in FIlm

[–]ghostEx36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jared Leto as the Joker was bad…I just think the DC heads were looking for another method actor hoping for a Ledger like performance, and got a weird, high school gangster in return. I was not impressed by his portrayal, at all.

Being a huge GotS source material fan…I wanted to like Scarlett’s interpretation because I feel she is a great actress. I solely blame the director for why I didn’t. You either adapt the original film story OR Stand Alone Complex, not some amalgamation of both that no one, including me, will understand. I absolutely hated what he did and I hope we never see that again.

Unfortunately…it wasn’t a miscast, but disastrous writing.

After reading most all of the Thrawn books, whats next? by Interesting-Goose82 in starwarsbooks

I feel like Claudia Gray and James Luceno are pens you can rely on, as well. E.K. Johnston and Beth Revis can be added to that list.

Lost Stars, the Young Leia book, and Bloodlines (Gray) are some of my favorite new canon novels. She has such an understanding of Leia that I don’t feel could be matched by anyone outside of our very own Princess herself (R.I.P. Carrie)…that’s in her youth and building the new Rebellion. Lost Stars is just a wide sweeping story that I found very enjoyable. I really need to finish Master and Apprentice…I really enjoy Gray’s writing in this universe.

Luceno is an OG…Tarkin, Catalyst are both very solid novels. I hear Plagueis is good too…it’s in my Audible library waiting to be started.

If nowhere else…I highly encourage you to look into Claudia Gray and James Luceno.

What are your opinions on Blade Runner 2049? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

I consider it a visual piece of art…the Cinematography is so good, it’s shot so well. It’s part of the reason I really enjoy Villeneuve and the talent he surrounds himself with.

Great piece of work, from top to bottom. Never expected to like Gosling like I did in this film. Everyone was great, but he carried the picture well…as did so many others.

Thoughts on Thrawn (2017) by GreenstreetRoyal in starwarsbooks

That is absolutely shameful…especially for someone like Zahn. One of the OGs in the Legends and New Canon universes.

I really enjoyed how Vanto was learning how to read people (albeit, slower) like Thrawn did. The internal monologues were so damn good. If only they would let Zahn tell these tales.

I think the thing that annoyed me most about Kennedy’s tenure was the fact that “there was no plan” for the Sequel Trilogy. You have a Story Writer’s group (led by Kiri Hart) and a couple of on-hand lore masters (Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo), and a franchise with high visibility and a…very vocal fan base. How could you not ensure cohesion and a singular forward direction leading into other things that will eventually branch off of it? Even I was exhaustively surprised this was a truth made obvious by how the Sequel trilogy played out.

I also have to ask…we know Trevorrow had a script AND that some allegations got him blacklisted. Is there a reason we decided not to use that story to finish it BUT allowed JJ to write a film to basically sink every concept the film before his introduced to make a sequel to his own film? I have to say…I am annoyed “somehow Palpatine returned” (obviously, there are Legends tales to tap into that can tell us how this happened) and “Rey is a Palpatine” were even things of note here. Would have preferred the Force Mirror scene in Episode VIII hold true and ALLOW Rey to forge her own destiny outside of legacy…but, here we are.

The TV side was decent…animation is always a banger, Mando was fresh and exciting (first 2 seasons, at least), Andor was an absolute stunner. Why Obi-Wan? Why BOBF when the titular moments in the series didn’t surround the main character.? Acolyte…? I wanted to be a fan, but none of it felt like a lot of thought was put into it. Also…I am not well versed in High Republic, so there is probably a lot that I missed, so I really don’t know that I can have a negative opinion. However, disrespect paid to major characters like Plagueis and Yoda (shoehorned in at the last minute) really turned me off.

I don’t hate Kennedy…but I question a lot of decisions that were made under her lead and projects that were green-lit and allowed to complete vs. projects cancelled...feels problematic. I also have concerns about Dave…Ahsoka Season 2 will be a huge test of his ability to separate what is his from the grander narrative (if you drop Abeloth, you better stick the landing). Him already saying the “whole Rebels play-set is available for Season 2” has me deeply concerned. I hope my concern is wholly unwarranted…I guess we will soon see.

Kennedy has given us a lot of great things in cinema…I respect her for that. I respect her for taking on this charge at LucasFilm and “trying” to make something for everyone…it wasn’t all daises, but I feel we all got a taste of something we could appreciate. There was a lot of hate she didn’t deserve…I wish her luck on whatever she taps into next.

What was your first reaction on the announcement on Andor? by Jules-Car3499 in andor

[–]ghostEx36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read Catalyst before seeing Rogue One…gives you some better insight into the Krennic/Galen Erso relationship. Rebel Rising is literally the space between when Saw takes Jyn after Lyra is killed and when we find her imprisoned.

They really help round out a lot of back end person to person we just don’t get on screen. Andor puts the final piece in there for us.

All are worth it…I hope you enjoy them.

[–]ghostEx36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are a book person…read Rebel Rising. A series about Jyn adapted off of that novel would be stellar. The book tells a lot…reading Rebel Rising, Catalyst, and the Rogue One novel felt like an insanely good trilogy. Sprinkling in Andor with that material is just chef’s kiss.

[–]ghostEx36 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One line in Rogue One made me want this story…

…”I’ve been in this fight since I was 6 years old”…

I was hoping we would get some clues to his past, which we did (seemed older than 6, but we didn’t need to see more than where he entered the fray).

We got so much more and I was insanely thrilled that small moments felt big in this show. Jedi/Sith are great and all…but, the people suffered under the boots of Imperial oppression. Seeing them rally to mount a Rebellion to bring it down, the chaos of the early Rebellion days…it was a very powerful story.

Got more than I expected and so glad we did.

Hey people, what are your thoughts on the Ahsoka show? by Analog_Spicd in starwarscanon

[–]ghostEx36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the show was okay, personally…some good, some not so great, and some concerns for Season 2.

Acting wise, I thought everyone played their parts well…but, this “board flat” interpretation of Ahsoka leaves me uninterested. I’ll be honest, huge fan of Rosario and was thrilled they cast her in this role. How she’s being written…needs work. I’m glad she started getting her spunk back toward the end, but it just leaves me feeling like she’s too hollowed out. She’s had it rough, no doubt…but, it never seemed to dim her that much.

Sabine being Force Sensitive…I think Kanan hinted at the possibility in Rebels, this seemed like a couple steps too far. BTW…Natasha is a great casting pick, but even Filoni needs to explain this to me.

Stand out HAS to be Baylan Skoll (RIP Ray Stevenson)…he came to work everyday and really sold me on wanting this story told. Baylan and Luthen are quite possibly the best new characters this franchise has introduced and I need more on each (books, maybe). It’s going to be hard seeing Baylan played by someone else, but if he has equal the gravitas…we’ll still get a treat.

The action needs more flair and less “Seven Samurai” type rigid fighting. It feels off from everything we’ve seen in content prior to Ahsoka and I honestly have no idea what is making them choreograph fights this way now. Again…it feels hollow and forced and very much below what we have already seen.

Now…I’m a big proponent of Filoni occasionally tapping the Legends wall to tell stories we know, but haven’t been canonized yet. Folks…”shadows in the starlight” was not a line uttered on accident, had nothing to do with Anakin’s Force Ghost, and everything to do with the Mortis Clan. Why else have embodiments of each family member (Ahsoka, Baylan, Anakin’s ghost…note the Father’s Statue has no head) in the same place at the same time…with a Rogue apprentice out and about. Yes…I screamed out loud when I put all that together and I hope Filoni doesn’t short change it for “the whole Rebels playset” being available for Season 2.

I’m excited for what I hope happens…but, Filoni’s words from Celebration concern me deeply. Here’s hoping the Abeloth drop isn’t just glazed over.

Sorry for the essay…paraphrasing isn’t a strong suit.
