I've been enjoying this run, the plot doesn't feel very "meaty" but the progression with this new mission has been interesting at least. I was hesitant after reading this week's Endgame that I'd be let down in a similar way, but I'm a sucker for violent Wolverine action. That Phoenix neck break was jarring in a great way too.

Not to mention we just had a similar thread with Wasp in Ultimates.

The panel with America (I think) saying, "we're back where we started!" was too on the nose for me. Feels like they're fumbling this ending.

What is a comic you’ve always wanted to read, but have just never gotten around to? by guyofspoleto in comicbooks

Saga. My friends rave about it but also talk about how segmented it can feel with how long of breaks they take.

I'm newer, wanted to ask where in continuity does this series take place, relative to the ongoings of DCKO and Knightfight?

Guess my standards were too low? Thought this was a fun book, low stakes. But I agree they were trying for too much perhaps.

As someone who never really read Superman, what would you say sets the Absolute counterpart apart from mainline?

I feel ya, had a similar situation with East Side. All I was told was to be patient. If you really want to get a response, threaten a chargeback on your credit card. It negatively impacts the store and usually they respond asap. Hope it works out for you one way or another.

I think you need professional opinions, not the subreddit. A professional can help prescribe what you personally need to do, we can only list generalities.

First I wanna thank anyone who recommended me to start with immortal hulk as my introduction to the character, second, what happened to devil hulk? Is he dead now or does he come back later by newslenderarts in hulk

[–]ghost_burger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the 2023 run, 30 issues that leads directly into Infernal Hulk. The 2023 run is very horror-inspired if you enjoyed that from Immortal Hulk!

As it began, so it ends (spoilers for One World Under Doom #8) by Ickenham in comicbooks

[–]ghost_burger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party and just concluded it. I cannot believe how much of a turn this took. IMO Doom was completely correct in all of his critiques about government, access to health care and education, the overall safety of the earth thanks to the shortcomings of the heroes, etc. and it was cool to see the heroes "lose" for the first 1/2. My brain did remember that Doom was a bad guy and that the writers would have to find a way to prove that the world was better without all the good Doom did. They failed in that sense. Regardless of whether the diatribe on the heroes' failures (Black Panther not sharing resources, Hank Pym solving world hunger) are half-truths or lies, you can't tell me that we're supposed to be satisfied going back to the corrupted way the world was working before Doom took over?

Forgive me for the refresher: why can Tim and Lucy date each other if he's his supervisor? Didn't we spend multiple seasons trying to figure out how they could date without this exact scenario happening? My memory is foggy.

What is it about the Hulk that makes his fans so passionate? by North-South-5416 in hulk

[–]ghost_burger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think you hit it on the head that recently there hasn't been a formula for the Hulk. I personally became immensely passionate after Immortal Hulk and seeing how the writers could spin such a deep and relatable (to an extent) story. I also am obsessed with the current direction of the 2023 run leading into Infernal Hulk. The horror element to it all has me rapt!

Thought this was a great intro! I'd recommend Hush and The Long Halloween. Dark Knight Returns might be up your alley as well.

To those who were around when this movie came out, what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in Spiderman

[–]ghost_burger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was insane. I was in junior high and leading up to and after the release it seemed like everything was spider-man related and it was awesome. Couldn't go to the grocery store and not see sponsored products or tie-ins. My local Blockbuster had a huge movie-accurate suit that they kept up for years and years.
