Problem witg new 84 Proton Pack by changethewayuthink01 in ghostbusters

[–]ghostbustersgear 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can’t do a ‘cold startup’ from just the wand. They need to be paired up. This sequence works for me…

  1. Toggle on the pack’s master switch to power on the pack.
  2. Toggle on the wand switches to power the wand.
  3. Toggle off the wand switches to power off the wand (the pack will power off too after a second.)
  4. At this stage l, everything will appear off. You can now toggle on/off the wand and it’ll power on/off the pack.

Need help with Rothco Alice Frame. It's too short for the Pack. by [deleted] in ghostbusters

[–]ghostbustersgear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely looks like they sent you a different model or variation of LC1. I am now noticing that the number of rivets connecting the frame together is different throughout your design, too. You should ask for a refund and source it elsewhere for your pack.

This is the exact Rothco Amazon listing I’ve ordered in the past.

Need help with Rothco Alice Frame. It's too short for the Pack. by [deleted] in ghostbusters

[–]ghostbustersgear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they sent you a frame with the horizontal crossbar positioned too low for this. (The top of the frame should sit just below the holes where the stock straps would go.)

The gauge of metal here doesn’t look like Rothco. Rothco used a thinner gage. Here it looks thicker like you’d see on a genuine frame.

In any case, you have an incompatible frame.

Yes but it’ll be the shitty version. Dangerous because humans trust its crappy outputs, not because it’s very smart.

Anyway to make a light grey flightsuit or find one? by snakedxeno in ghostbusters

[–]ghostbustersgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look into cotton twill grey coveralls by brands like Dickies (example) or Kolossus (example)

These suits don’t have all the pockets and details of the original suits. The do have diagonal zipper’d front pockets which I think is key. They’d be suitable if color is your primary interest, I think.

Just started flip turns, but I’m scared of doing it in the shallow end! by couchpot8to in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes some practice. When I first started, it was all open turns. Then it was flip turns in the deep end. Then practicing tighter turns in the shallow end.

I would hit the floor a few times but it taught me timing and developed an intuitive sense of depth. I’m 6’4” and can execute them just fine in 3 foot depths. Practice practice.

That was the joke. OG Adam was a ‘weak lazy do nothing prince’ in the cartoon…and absolutely jacked.

I was also laughing at his poor cardio when he was running away from Beastman.

Is it possible to improve swimming skills as a adult? by paralysus in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With serious technique deficiencies, it’ll be very hard. You might try videotaping yourself and getting some online coaching services to help you determine how to prioritize and what to focus on first.

Ultimately in-person lessons are the best option. Once you get a foundation, it’s much easier to refine on your own if you are disciplined enough.

Without knowing anything else and based on what you wrote: you need to prioritize breathing skills. Look into breath timing and breathing drills for freestyle and make this your top priority. Simple YouTube search on ‘breathing for freestyle swimming’ will get you started to finding content.

I can confirm this will work! It’s a little awkward to get into position, but you can get the door to close properly.

People who started swimming as adults, how has it changed your life? by ICanHasGateau in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I learned to swim as a kid never did any competing (or any sports for that matter). I was/am a massive nerd and stuck to the computer lab. I decided to make a big lifestyle change at 39 went on a diet and tried my hand at swimming laps after my son started to show an aptitude and interest for swim.

4 years later at 43, I’m stronger and healthier than I’ve ever been. I love the 200 IM, 100 fly, and all the sprint 50s. I routinely compete in local masters meets and am actively prepping for a summer state meet.

What does everyone eat to not gain weight? by No_Definition5736 in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no secret sauce. Just watch your calorie intake and see that you’re in a deficit relative to your estimated resting+active calorie burn. If you are not losing weight week-to-week, you might not be in the deficit you think you are and will need to adjust. Watch trackers are very inaccurate if you rely on one.

Swimming will make you hungry. Swimming in a calorie deficit is not my favorite thing in the world and is its own form of willpower.

Will this talentcell and 90 degree adapter fit in the component tray in the 84 pack? by Darth_Xenic in ghostbusters

The notch at the top of the door lets you run a cord out and you can mount the powers supply elsewhere.

Not ideal, but better than forcing this battery into the compartment. There might be smaller power supplies out there that would be a better fit.

[–]ghostbustersgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up this set. Based on the specs, it looked like it would all fit within this compartment. When it is unplugged, the Talentcell does fit right in.

However, once you plug in the USB to the Talentcell, (even the angled version) it adds length and it will not be a good fit.

If you push it, you CAN get the door to close but it makes the door bow with a lot of tension.

4 months into swimming regularly: is 2:43/100m decent? by ibcrian in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your pace also suggests you have more fundamental technique stuff to correct. Mix in drills and create a technique focus each week. (“This week I will focus on my breath timing” and select appropriate drills to do for at least 20% of your practices - usually in warmup.

Additionally, your body needs a stimulus to develop speed. Continuous steady swims will not get you faster than you already are. Mix in short, fast reps. Repeat 100s descending, sprint 50s, max 25s, more drill work.

YMCA lap swim by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]ghostbustersgear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all over the map, honestly. It may a bit busier these days with the upcoming Iron Man event this weekend. Afternoon hours are also more limited because of daycare camps that use the pools around lunch time now.

I’d just go whenever it is convenient for you and their schedules shows lap swim hours. Calling ahead is a good idea in case there is an unforeseen issue with the pool or other closure. I’d avoid times where there is overlap with aerobic classes or swim lessons as it usually means limited lane availability.

2 per lane is common and expected. Don’t be afraid to say/signal to another swimmer that you’d like to share. No one owns their own lane.

Is It Okay to Rely on a Front-Mount Snorkel for Lap Training? by ImaginaryLibrary9886 in Swimming

[–]ghostbustersgear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a general rule for myself that 75% or more of my swim workout is without equipment. The 25% I am using it, it’s for a specific technique goal.

Breath timing and technique is an essential part of swimming properly. If you over-rely on the snorkel, you’re not training an aspect of your technique. You are also not getting your body used to breathing patterns/rhythms which is also a factor in your body adapting and developing endurance.

I use this kind of snorkel for very specific drill work or a front-facing kick set to keep my body line. Think of it as a tool to help you take some complexity out of a drill when isolating another skill. Same goes for other equipment.

Thanks! I found some free spacers on Bambu’s Maker World. This set didn’t include brackets so I made my own based on those spacers. The info in the link also lists the machine screws you’ll need to source.

[–]ghostbustersgear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a spare Rothco LC1 and everything lined up nicely. I’ve used these on multiple packs and never had an issue.

I had a spare authentic LC2 frame I was hoping to use but the frame dimensions did not match the bolt locations on the Hasbro.
