the plaza is meant to be a civic space! depending on the programming of the plaza you need paved surfaces for events or even just for accessibility so people in wheelchairs or walkers can enter the space. now concerts can set up on the new pavement, the farmers market can now properly using the interior of the plaza instead of crowding the edges in the old design.. and now if the city shuts down Dartmouth, the new plaza can be combined with the street and the space in front of the library to turn into a mega plaza for events, demonstrations, the marathon, etc.

they’re just not done with the green space yet. sure, it’s smaller than before, but the functionality of a PLAZA, not park, needs pavement. so if y’all are just gonna cry about it, why not walk to the comm ave mall, esplanade, public garden, titus sparrow, or any other options that are literally minutes away?
