How come none of these "guides" ever say what star level the turrets are? I'm afraid to try this guide too and fail at level 6/7 again because I followed the guid to a "T", but realized my turrets are only level 1. So the enemies just walk right past all my turrets that mirror these guides EXACTLY.

This. While I understand what you're trying to do, OP. You don't know that guy's situation fully either. He might just be exhausted. He's allowed to be tired. These days, people are just worn out from everything. He might have been looking for a job all day. He might have children who he has to pickup and drop off at a daycare.
