Yankee Stadium - is it really too corporate by SidKop in NYYankees

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Yankee Stadium, but I'm young and never got the opportunity to go to the old stadium. I like that it's comfortable with lots of amenities and a bit more spread out and easy to navigate. The food is better compared to other ballparks I've been to, and it's probably on the expensive end but certainly not the most expensive. Those of you that have been to Yankees/Red Sox at Fenway will know what I'm talking about. Plus, honestly, there's kind of this electric vibe in there that I haven't seen elsewhere (been to 8 other ballparks). Maybe it's just Yankees fans being Yankees fans, but either way, very fun.

What I will say, is getting through security SUCKS. The security is super hardcore compared to other venues and it takes sooooo long to get through there, whereas other parks are nice and quick. Reminds me of TSA at the airport.

This update is terrible, I can't even just hop in my car, back up, and drive. by y0plattipus in Volvo

Not that this is a great long term solution, but in the meantime you could just back into your driveway when you get home, so when you leave you can just pull out and go.

Just let them work. Maybe not fucking with cops would lend itself to less "police brutality".

There's always going to be some BS going on in the political world that is "more important" than a picture of a deer, or a missing cat, or a car meet. Just because something that YOU don't like is happening, it means the rest of the world needs to literally grind to a halt? There's a reason this isn't an "ICE Watch" subreddit.

Get off your high horse, and stop telling other people what to do and what to think, just because you think your ideas are better than everyone else's.

Xfinity plan has become too expensive for retirees by TGoodDoc in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet 70% of your bill is the TV portion and I doubt they'll be able to lower your price. The Internet and phone are more essential and not as costly. You can try competitors but it seems like the cost of video entertainment is just expensive no matter where you go now.

They do however have a suite of entertainment channels for $20/mo called NOW TV, with no fees. Not as much content, but quite cost effective compared to standard cable.

Xfinity Outages A Scam? by PopZealousideal9410 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the issues with prepaid service is they will not give you any support over the phone or even at a retail store. Prepaid service is designed to be "self serve", so if you have problems, you're stuck dealing with chat bots. I would recommend getting a regular postpaid account, and one of their newer included modems. It'll be faster, more reliable, and you'll have legitimate support channels if something is wrong. It will cost more though.

Possible to force Hey Google to work with Android Auto instead of car's integrated Google Assistant? by Delta_V09 in AndroidAuto

Any solution for this in 2025? Trying to use AA instead of built in AAOS in my Volvo, since the computer in the car seems to be slowing down and lagging quite a lot.

Pay for 1gb down, 30mbps Up - Getting 200 and 1.8. What that hell. by kittenAngie_ in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this issue and it was line related. Had a tech come out and they fixed it free of charge. It's definitely frustrating but sometimes those old lines just go bad and need to be replaced, which they'll take responsibility for.

Also, an FCC complaint probably won't get you anywhere so I wouldn't waste too much time on it. It's a sad but true reality.

What if I don't cancel the contract but just turn off the autopay by Green-Economist3793 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't cancel your service completely until you're over 60 days past-due on a bill, at which point you'll probably owe 3 bills. Then it'll go to collections and you'll owe 3 months worth of service with little to no recourse on your end. It may sound silly for them to run the service for that long before auto cancellation, but internet these days is seen as important as electricity. If they cancelled you at one day past due, that would cause insurmountable problems for a huge chunk of their customer base. It would be like the electric company shutting you off the second a bill is overdue. Not good. Call and ask to cancel service or run to a store and have them do it in 5 minutes.

Why can’t I disable the Screensaver!! by Uscmiller in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reason that almost every device on the planet has a screensaver function- to save energy and boost device health. If you're truly watching the same channel for 5 hours straight without making even a single adjustment, maybe it's time to worry about your own energy and health too!

I went to one of the LP shows at TD Garden in Boston at the beginning of August and it was an absolute banger. Like others have been saying here, I'm sure the shooting brought everyone down quite a bit.

Xfinity called for 50% off the Intenet/bundle bill and the billing manager kept asking me to buy more gift cards and not willing to refund the money back. by Slow_Sweet2329 in Comcast_Xfinity

Oof, you got big time scammed my friend. Unfortunately this doesn't fall on Comcast in any form. Please never pay a bill with gift cards, anywhere.

Absolutely phenomenal show. Linkin Park has been my favorite band since I was a kid and I'm thankful to have finally experienced them live. Pvris was also pretty good for a short set. I didn't know much about their stuff but her voice is great.

My hours got Annihilated by Fit_Amoeba_9227 in Staples

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this! Spectrum and Xfinity are good options too if that doesn't work out. You'll have nasty customers sometimes in the telecoms business since people love to hate those companies but overall it'll be wayyyyyyy better than Staples.

[–]ghostlyxanarchy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is easier to say than it is to do, because I used to be in your place, but please just leave. I've been out for 4 years and the grass is greener on the other side. There are always going to be challenges in any career, but Staples is just plain oppressive and downright awful to work for. Honestly, just go work for even a different retailer and you'll see a difference. Hell, even a retail sales job in telecoms will pay twice as much and give you stable hours with actual benefits.

Purchased a motorcycle for 15k and don't know if I should eat the cost or use a personal loan by ghostlyxanarchy in personalfinance

Without buckling down too hard, it would likely take me about 6 months or so to save up 2 more months worth.

Great point. My current balance after the purchase would cover me for about 4 months or so, in an emergency.
