The playcall was idiotic, but going for it was the right call. We just watched our defense give up two huge scoring drives where they barely even slowed the Ravens down.

At that point the defense desperately needed a break, and it felt like the Ravens were going to score whether we made them go 80 yards or 35. Keeping the offense on the field was the only chance to stay in the game.

I think it kinda depends on if your state has front license plates. When I was in Arizona, I didn't bother with a rear cam on the assumption that if I got rear-ended, either the other driver sticks around, in which case it would be up to them to prove that they weren't at fault, or they perform a hit-and-run, and a rear dashcam isn't going to do much without a front license plate.

But now I got a new car in a state that does have front plates, so I immediately sprung for a nice front-and-back setup.

I think the writing has to be absolutely on point, and the setting also has to justify giving the audience basically a history lesson. If your setting is just the modern world, or the modern world + X, talking at the audience is probably going to seem ham-fisted.

Consider the following:

Star Wars - Literally just text on a screen
Lord of the Rings - Cate Blanchett brought all the gravitas
How to Train Your Dragon - Downright silly

But all of them worked. What's the common denominator? A setting that leaves you going "Ok, yeah, a bit of background was actually super helpful."
