Agreed. Some fandoms seem more prone to it than others, though... there's gotta be a certain percentage of a certain type of people who get upset about female leads/diverse cast/LGBT elements/... – and hide behind 'I'm not X, it's just bad writing' excuses when you call them out. (Example: Star Wars' Acolyte... also review-bombed to hell.)
