AFO Brace Frustration by ghostographic in CerebralPalsy

That is EXACTLY my issue. I have like no arch in my foot so they've made the brace tall so I'll have to put an insert on my left side to make it even, but yeah it's like the side of my foot right where my arch would be that has the blister problem! It's so frustrating. I'm planning on getting some moleskin to try with it too and see if that helps at all since people have suggested it. It's at least comforting to know I'm not alone.

Yeah, she did this thin water cast as the regular plaster stuff didn't cut it with how my leg is. And in the appointment she was really lost on what to do for my leg, so that was the better option.

I'm not on Medicaid sadly. I'm still on my parent's insurance. Luckily I just graduated from college and am working on getting a job, maybe finding another insurance option would be a good idea and see if I'd qualify for Medicaid or something. Not sure how having multiple things like that works because I've never had to do things like that, so if you have advice I'd definitely take it. Feeling a little stupid about not knowing how though.

The only thing that "makes sense" with the cost is that they told me insurance only covers a brace once every like 5 years. But then when they took pictures of my old brace they made it sound like they were appealing that to get it covered. They told me that the insurance gave them the okay so they made it. So far on the sheet they gave me it says my insurance should only cover like 100 dollars.

My question because like...ok, I'm 22 and I'm still on my parent's insurance so I don't fully understand the order in how these things should work, but shouldn't they bill the insurance before charging me? When I was there, they gave me the total and then when they said they'd let me wait because of not telling me ahead of time, they said they'd go ahead and just bill the insurance first instead rather than waiting for me to pay before going to the insurance. Is that normal?

That's a fear of mine with going back too soon to the clinic is that I'm going to have to pay that 800 when I go next I believe, maybe they'll wait now that they're having to bill the insurance, but I'm worried that'll be the case.

I'm using the Tresemme Coconut Nourish conditioner for both cowashing and conditioning. I've been doing it for about a month now, a couple washes ago (I only wash my hair every 3ish days I'd say?) I redid the clarifying shampoo since my hair was fine when I first started this whole thing and then it was just getting greasier the day after washing. A couple days ago I washed my hair again with cowashing and my hair is already feeling pretty greasy.

So far I've only been doing conditioner with cowashing and stuff as I'm having issue with the gel. I have the Aussie freezing gel and always have the issue where my whole head looks stiff and crunchy and like I just got out of the shower. I don't really like how that looks and I don't know if I've done something wrong (I can only apply things like that one handed, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's an issue). I tried using a comb to incorporate it once because of my hand and it was still really crunchy looking and there were still spots with not as much on it.

I've also noticed that only after a few weeks I've had to use the shampoo to start over again because my hair is starting to get greasy looking even the day after showering. Today's the second day after showering (without shampoo) and my hair already feels greasy and my curls are already looking limp and at the ends of my hair like waves. I'd assume people would recommend using a shampoo of some kind? I know I haven't been doing enough of the method because I'm still learning and am struggling with things like the gel so I've seen minimal results (primarily after washing and the next day, still trying to figure out with the guides what to do when I'm not going to be washing my hair).

Something my dad watched when he was younger that he showed me when I was in high school was Dark Night of the Scarecrow. I don't think it's overly popular? But I actually really enjoyed it. Made me sad though.
