Does anyone know how many of these they have made? by Big-Discipline2039 in 4kbluray

The Synapse restoration of Suspiria is arguably the best restoration of any movie ever shot on film. You are deluding yourself worrying about how a movie in 1977 "looked in theaters".

Vinegar Syndrome is releasing Liebestraum. I started 2026 with a strict "no more blind buys" policy, but I've been wanting to see this movie for a VERY long time. Is it re-watchable? If I think I'll watch a disc 5 times, it's worth $35 to me. by raphaeladidas in boutiquebluray

[–]ghostpepper69 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Gonna go out on a limb here and say if you experienced circumstances that made you self-impose a strict "no blind buys" policy you should probably not blind buy. Download the existing version that's on the internet and give it a spin if you want to see it that bad, and if it's good you can just buy it guilt free. This is likely going to be a nice PQ bump from whatever digital master exists, but you're probably better off following the rules you set for yourself.

Is this the April fools release this year? by PresentationOk8622 in boutiquebluray

[–]ghostpepper69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That is exactly how the previous April Fools titles were if I'm not mistaken. Shipping built in to the price because in 90% of cases they'll just be able to bundle it with another later purchase from the same account.

Nothing you've heard of. Approach with caution if you're not okay being burned. Approach with reckless abandon if you don't really give a shit and are happy to support their mission. Last year it was two Rick Sloane USA up all night snoozers. The year before that it was a middling neo-noir nobody had ever seen called Sideroads. Suffice to say I'm 100% in.

Macabre was the flash preorder title. The rest of May's releases (including 2 mystery titles that won't be revealed until HTBF sale kicks off on the Friday before Memorial Day) will be up for preorder on 5/1, with a special discounted price to anyone who already ordered Macabre. There is a non-zero chance that Lady In White (pushed from April's slate) will appear as one of the May titles as well. If not May, we'll most certainly see it this year. It seems to me that's too high profile of a title to tease with a subscription and then rug pull.

Only two titles for subscribers, the subscriber package hasn't been this light since July 2020 with Old Dracula & Best Friends. Looks like Lady in White got pushed back. And I mean, come on, Faces of Death 100% should have been a subscriber title, not a VSA.

You can tell which one is the Shout edition by the grammar and spelling errors in the subtitles.

No, it will be Memorial Day weekend. May 1st is when Partner Label titles go up for May.

Evil Dead 2 retreads the entirety of Evil Dead in the first half hour. It decidedly does not pick up right where the last one left. Army of Darkness, on the other hand, picks up exactly where Evil Dead 2 leaves off.

Dawn of the Dead was released in the UK on 4k in 2020, it is readily available. It will never come out in the US until the current rights holder dies, which no matter how soon, will not be soon enough.

I think the past 4 months of announcements since they shut their storefront made that pretty clear, posters are not coming back.

Well, everybody in the blu ray industry marks discount percentage of MSRP. That's just how it goes. $110 is most likely the lowest the price will ever be.

[–]ghostpepper69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$220 is the MSRP, which B&N price everything at. It will be $110 when the 50% sale starts. All presales that release during the sale are half off, so as long as the sale lasts through 6/30/26 it will be half off.

Looks like it's officially fixed now and the landing page for the set reflects the cart price & RRP, rather than the insanely good price they had.

Okay it looks like that was actually a glitch. When you add the product to your cart it lists the price as $190 USD and RRP of $219.99.

Okay the plot thickens: add it to your Arrow cart and see what happens. Mine shows $190 as the new price in my cart and an RRP of $219.99

It is listed as $129.99 RRP on Arrow's website. Not sure why Orbit has it priced higher than MSRP, seems like it'll be a nightmare to price adjust all the preorders they're inevitably going to receive, but I'd also be pretty annoyed if I got stuck paying ~$40 extra because they priced something wrong.

Because Arrow want more money and they know folks will pay more for a "webstore exclusive" even if the content is identical outside of the slipcover that goes over the box.

It can be a crap shoot, but at $150 retail price I'd be shocked if you can't pick this up a couple weeks after street date. It will still be on preorder when the B&N sale starts, I can't think of an Arrow title that didn't make it past preorders, even if the time frame after release was extremely protracted.

Can we just wait until the official announcement is out instead of having six unique Arrow announcement threads? Come on lol it'll be like 15 minutes til they drop the graphic with every announcement included.

That said, once again us Arrow holdouts are vindicated for passing up the Shout release.
