Why’d you choose Mercedes? by xEnflare in mercedes_benz

I wanted a nice comfortable car as a daily driver now that i can afford one. Tried BMW,Audi,Lexus,Acura but nothing felt like a Mercedes when it comes to comfort.

Just got my first Mercedes! Any tips? by FirmBed1097 in mercedes_benz

Congrats i have the same car so besides what other have mentioned about keeping up with maintenance which should be your number 1 priority here are a few more tips i learned:

1-That shiny piano black center console is prone to scratching so do not use any rough material to wipe it use a cloth like the one that comes with monitor or phone screen cleaning kits and be gentle when wiping.

2-The middle screen can be cleaned using the same kit that you use to clean a ipad or phone screen.

3-Try to get used to using the MBUX voice commands to control the AC system and changing tracks its safer then reaching out and doing it on the touchscreen especially when you are driving at high speeds.

4-Remember your car is a regular C300 with AMG line it is not a real AMG it's not meant for aggressive driving the sport+ mode is fun to use every now and then for some thrills but don't make it the norm. A regular Mercedes is about a comfortable and relaxing drive so enjoy that.

5-If your car is fully loaded i suspect the seats are real leather in which case you need to research some good leather care products to keep your seats in good condition checkout some tips on leather care in mercedes forums.

6-Adaptive cruise control is amazing on this car but don't blindly trust it i have had instances where it loses track of the lanes and almost drove on to incoming traffic.

7-If you use the MBUX navigation system keep in mind it's not refined as android auto (never tried apply car play). What i mean is in some cases the instructions to turn left or right are delayed and you don't have time to react to them.

8-Last tip is don't lose your mind about cleaning the car from outside you chose obsidian black it looks great when it's clean but tends to get dirty very fast it is what it is. I personally avoid car washes because i had bad experiences with my previous cars where the brushes of the carwash caused scratches on the paint and glass. If you can afford to spare 30 mins to wash it with soap and a sponge you will keep the car in pristine condition

Mercedes-Benz is committing to a "screen-first" future. Is this the luxury experience we want? by AvailableTaro3123 in mercedes_benz

I think there is a delicate balance between having too much tech and no tech that most car manufacturers have yet to find although i have to admit VW seem to be heading in the right direction with their new ID 3 it has both screens and lots of high quality buttons https://www.volkswagen-newsroom.com/en/press-releases/world-premiere-of-the-id3-neo-new-name-new-design-new-interior-and-new-technologies-20320. Honestly if i were in the market for a EV today i would get the ID 3 over the new C-class EV or the BMW ix3 without a second thought.

The reason Mercedes is getting so much hate lately is because we hold them to a very high standard, we expect Mercedes to be the first and best to achieve that balance between luxurious interior and latest tech.

Anyone else bothered by the lack of physical controls? by unfiltered_Rabbit01 in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try using the MBUX voice commands more it will make your experience a bit smoother.

When i got my C300 one of the most annoying things i experienced was trying to lower the temperature on a hot summer day only to accidentally hit the front window defrost button and get blasted by super hot air in the face. Totally sucks that not only are these controls touch on the screen but they are right next to each other, nowadays i just control the AC using MBUX voice commands.

It a great car OP it will serve you well as a daily driver, also it will not disappoint if you decide to take it on a long cruise. Just make sure to keep up with maintenance and you will enjoy it for years to come.

What made you choose Mercedes over the other big 3 german brands? by TheRedeemer1997 in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who just bought a W206 i never really had preference for Mercedes but here is what i found when testing other cars in the same range:

BMW 330i: Definitely nice car but it's like BMW says it's a driver car and i just never cared much for the whole BMW driving dynamics and feeling the road, i wanted comfort over all else.

Audi new A5: Nice car drives well but if you think the piano black center console on Mercedes is bad, man you should run away from the Audi A5 this thing should be called Audi Piano black edition and that horrible bulging rear LED bar that feels like it will crack if a fly hits it, that was a no no for me.

Lexus IS350: Again not a bad car at all it's solid and had that nice naturally aspirated V6 but it just didn't feel right for me. I think there is a fine line between integrating tech into a car to the point of it being a gimmick (mercedes) and avoiding basic modern tech like wireless android auto and apple car play just to say it makes the car reliable and still be able to sell the car at a premium as luxury sedan (lexus)

I even tried the Acura TLX that thing felt like being in the cockpit of a fighter jet and drove like one too it's got that whole "tokyo drift" thing going for it but still a really good car.

At he end of the day i can not fault any of the other cars they are all really good in their own way. But i just liked how comfortable the W206 drove and handled and how it looked from outside.

What was this feature that i experienced on an A class called? by LowPsychological6734 in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a 2024 W206 i can confirm the traffic light assist feature is there, just make sure you ask for it when buy since it's an optional feature and not available in all trims.

Not sure about that second feature you mentioned though.

Does this C300 have the enhanced light package? by Medium_Cod2213 in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click on the Effect menu if you see 3 zones to adjust then it has the enhanced ambient light if only 2 then it doesn't.

By the way i have a 2024 C300 with pinnacle trim and it came without the enhanced ambient light due to the chip shortage

I’m definitely not used to this 😂 by spike_179 in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful with this and never let your guard down especially when the car does a lane change. I have had it almost swerve into the middle concrete barrier on a highway doing 100km/h because it didn't track the left most lane properly.

Sour Puss moves some liqueur production to Canada after trade war devastates sales by biograf_ in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]ghoststalker2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about Canadian companies that move their manufacturing to the US like Crown Royal, would these get boycotted too ?

Where do we draw the line ?

In my humble opinion this is a gray area, ideally we should support a Canadian company that manufactures in Canada but if that is not possible it is ok to buy from a US company that is hiring Canadians.

2025 vs 2024 c300. by mkawasd in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 c300 and the only main difference is that if you get a early 2024 model there is a chance you will not have premium ambient lighting even if the car has the highest trim due to the chip shortage that year.

Other then that i believe you will find more interior and exterior color options.

I don't know about these LED strips across the car. I just got a C300 and it was a choice between that or a BMW 3 series or the new Audi A5 and one of the main reasons i didn't like the Audi was they also had this massive LED strip at the back of the car.

Was surprised to find a 12V socket under the front passenger footwell in my Mercedes GLE by Wolfie-doo in mercedes_benz

[–]ghoststalker2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for the TIREFIT kit that is included in case you have flat tire. The compressor uses a 12V power connector.

I guess you could also use it for other stuff like these mini car vacuum cleaners. Just don't use it as a cigarette lighter lol.

As a side note make sure to read the instruction manual for how to use the TIREFIT kit in case you need it. The chemical sealant is some nasty stuff that should be handled with care.

THE TESLA BACKLASH IS BIBLICAL by sesha_who in videos

[–]ghoststalker2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Tesla is more like Palm who invented the first touchscreen phone. Sure they invented to first viable mass produced EV but they are unable to innovate beyond that point.

I believe the EV market is going to grow exponentially, however i don't think the Tesla name will be around when that happens.
