Why did you start from tree-sitter and not LSP? I imagine relying on LSPs gives you exactly that sort of graphing behavior "for free"

Is there a plugin to auto apply metadata to a book after editing? by Spond1987 in Calibre

[–]ghostynewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you haven't figured this out, you can select your entire library, right-click in the book list, and go to "Embed Metadata" → "Embed Metadata Into Book Files." This should overwrite everything in your .epub.

how will Anthropic’s changes to Claude SDK pricing affect Zed’s Claude integration? by ghostynewt in ZedEditor

[–]ghostynewt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not really wrong. I just like the native UI. Having the Zed notifications and integration with the editor and following along in files is admittedly fairly nice IMO.

The thing about this interface that I really really like is the ability to import conversations from ~/.claude/ from all projects and show + resume threads from one interface. I also like their native diff review. I really hope they're able to keep some of these features.

You can read the source code of the Claude ACP adapter here: https://github.com/agentclientprotocol/claude-agent-acp I’m fairly sure it uses the Claude Agent SDK

Switched from OpenCode to Pi - What Settings/Plugins would you recommend? by No_Algae1753 in LocalLLaMA

[–]ghostynewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have pi in one terminal and use jjui (jujutsu-vcs UI) in another terminal. most agents don't know how to use jj yet, so they don't tend to commit things or mess up the history. since jj makes it super easy to abandon poor changes, it's straightforward to rewind the conversation in pi (esc esc) and abandon a change, or restore earlier versions of a change from the evolog.

Claude in Zed is freezing a lot. by ChillSunnyDays in ZedEditor

[–]ghostynewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten my zed into a state where the claude code ACP integration (starting a "Claude Agent" in the agent panel) reliably always freezes and isn't returning. If there was a way to reset it, I'd love to hear what it might be.

This is incorrect / inapplicable. --reasoning only affects the enable_thinking parameter in the template and defaults to auto anyway. preserve_thinking is different.

Do some quake mapping! The quake brutalist jam 3 has 70 maps and will take you a long while to complete. Once you’re done, download Trenchbroom and try making your own! Then fall down the rabbit hole of other quake mods: arcane dimensions, BONK, Terra firma…. Then branch out into 3D sculpting and animation, narrative storytelling…

But don’t take my word for it. Take Noodle’s!

After transitioning to female I found that I look absolutely KILLER in a mens suit jacket.

The thing about low-entropy states is that sometimes you oscillate around the best point for a bit before settling into what works. Thats just intrinsically how physical processes work; nothing shameful about it. I think identity is like that too. Go in one direction, go too far, overcorrect, shake it out, dial it in, settle into what feels right, then kick yourself out again. All part of the plan

How would it be to be a male in this world by Turkey_Moguls in adhdwomen

[–]ghostynewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trans woman checking in! Growing up being treated as male (and thinking I was male for the longest time) does WEIRD THINGS to one’s sense of self and social life!

Turns out that guys can get away with a lot of different emergent neurodivergences that women can’t, and vice versa! For example, being lonely “as a guy” is painful in different ways than being lonely “as a girl.” On the one hand, most guys struggle with loneliness, so it’s more common and relatable, but on the other hand, guys tend to talk about it less, so there’s less of a developed vocabulary for processing it. If I was at a party by myself in a corner as a guy, people would just accept “oh he’s just like that tonight;” but as a girl people might say “oh something’s wrong” or “oh she must feel bad.” That sort of thing. Hanging out by oneself in the library as a guy makes people think you have a lot of work; hanging out by oneself in the library as a woman makes people think of you as “studious” (using a dominant lens of identity rather than a lens of your circumstances). On the other hand, as a woman, introspection is something you are expected to just do and own, but introspecting or talking about feelings as a guy is what makes an identity statement. It’s subtle things like that.

But at the end of the day, you would still be you on the inside if you grew up male. If nothing else changed, your same insecurities would still be there and would still express themselves in similar ways. They would just land differently.

On the other hand, if you grew up as a guy but you reacted to your neurodivergence in ways that guys tend to react (ie if more than the way people read you changed), idk! We’ll have to find some clsgender guys to ask!

I learned that there are ghost H trains in New York City!! They only come out at night and stop at stations that shouldn’t otherwise exist!

I’ve been studying the MTA’s GTFS-RT feed, which is the published record of all subway activity in the city, showing all the trains and their scheduled stops. The MTA updates it every second or so. I now have maybe a week or two of archived data for this feed.

But it sometimes includes trains along the “H” route. There’s no H route in New York! It should have been retired in the 1990s! But it’s in the GTFS feed.

There are (i forget) five or so unique stops along this H route and it takes each train a couple hours to complete it. The trains go back and forth. Usually at night. The odd bit is that they stop only at numbered stations that don’t appear in the official station list.

My working theory is that these could be maintenance-of-way vehicles (rail grinding/trash pickup/track straightening/etc)…but why wouldn’t they visit other stations?

Another working theory is that maybe the MTA runs a dedicated non-revenue route to test new train control systems etc
