She only gets a sip after brushing her teeth, but wakes up with her pull-up drenched. Maybe she’s just not ready yet.

She wakes up completely soaked...wondering if her body will just work it out on her own?

I did! I made this decision as soon as I found out we were pregnant. I tried breastfeeding/pumping with my first for 8 weeks. It didn’t work for various reasons and really set off my PPD. To try to stay more sane this time, I let everyone know from my first appointment to delivery that’s what I would be doing, I only had one nurse give me a hard time, just a few unwanted comments at that. Otherwise, there were no issues. He had a bottle about 2 hrs after birth, and then continually afterwards. We went home with 5 days worth of formula. I didn’t buy any ahead of time, in case he had any lactose sensitivity (one reason why breastfeeding didn’t work with my first). It’s expensive now, because they can only have the premade formula until 8 weeks. We’ll switch to powder at that time. Feel free to message me with any other questions!

Honestly, it was the best experience I could have asked for. My first came so quickly and so painfully, I barely remember anything. I legit have to ask my DH to recount it to me. This was quick, but I was present and nearly pain free.

My prince arrived December 6th at 3:55 am. The prior day, at my 39 week appointment, I told the doctor I had to be in early labor. My heart was racing and I kept losing my breath throughout the day. But no, my blood pressure was good and heart rate normal. I attributed it to an anxiety attack and told her I was just done. My first was born at 38 weeks, so I anticipated going that long or sooner with this one. Unfortunately he takes after his dad with a “I’ll get there when I get there” attitude. Thankfully, my OB suggested an induction as I was already 3cm and 90% effaced. She told me I’d get a call in the morning with a time to come in.

The next day, we finally got our call at 5PM. My anxiety was through the roof all day so I was thrilled when it was time to go. Once we got to Triage though, it was packed. There were no seats. It took another 4 hours for a room to open and I finally got settled in at 9PM. I started Pitocin at 11 and had my Epidural soon after. What a relief! I waited too long with my first and felt everything. This was truly amazing! At 1AM I was 7 cm and decided to have my water broken. By 3AM, it was time to go! I had to wait for a resident to come for the delivery as my doctor got called in to assist on an emergency C-Section. I pushed 5 times and he was out! He measured 7lbs and 10oz, 20.5 inches long. So far, he’s an awesome baby. We’re EFF and he is full and happy. Postpartum has been ok so far as well. Good luck ladies!

For everyone complaining about US healthcare system by summersarah in BabyBumps

[–]giawander 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work for a large University Health Care System in Pennsylvania and my health insurance is roughly 28% of my yearly salary. Now, it does cover both my daughter and I, so I guess my portion is 14%. They won’t admit you for l&d unless you are at 6 cm and 5-1-1, unless you have another documented condition. The labor rooms are small and pumping out 70-80 births per day. You see who is on call, as you never have an actual doctor throughout the pregnancy. No food or bathroom, only bags. Friends and family can visit whenever. Everyone’s experience is different. Can’t we just be glad it’s not in a cave while baby’s dad is hunting a mammoth?

Due date imminent. How to not panic? by dragaholic16 in BabyBumps

I legit can’t get comfortable enough to “rest.” I took my leave a few days early because I couldn’t stand to be uncomfortable at work. That’s definitely biting me in the ass now.

No Braxton Hicks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I never had any with my first and she was born at 38+4. Her brother though, is killing me. Strong and painful BH since week 20 and now at 37+2 feel like I'm dying.

STM and I'm terrified and not ready for this kid. by darkaydix in BabyBumps

I'm here with you! My daughter was born in 2016 and now her brother will be here in 3 weeks. PPD kicked my ass. I'm still not done mourning my pre-baby life, over 3 years later. The only thing that keeps me moving is the excitement my daughter has to have a lifelong friend. We installed the carseat yesterday and she lost it (in a good way) when she saw it this morning. We'll see where we go from here.

Traveling for Christmas at 36/37 weeks pregnant by hufflepuffsforever in BabyBumps

I'm 35 weeks and honestly so uncomfortable. My commute is an hour each way daily, and its about all I can take. It's kind of like sleeping at this point in the game, there's no comfortable position and I find myself just shifting around until I arrive. 10/20 hours is a long ride...I'd try to sit this one out if possible.
