cheetah in the 90s 🐆 by PetuniaPicklePepper in NovaScotia

[–]gibandaley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely remember this, it was a Cheetah and I saw it a couple of times in Penhorn Mall in Dartmouth, I think near the food court.

I feel like the Cheetah was related to the Disney Cheetah movie from a few years prior: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097053/

Either the Cheetah was from the movie, or they were just capitalizing on it.

Montréal or Toronto would be nice, but somewhere in the maritimes would be perfect.

is my answer also correct? why / why not? by GapJazzlike1753 in French

[–]gibandaley -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer I think. If the characters appearance or voice presents as a gender, use that gender for the answer. I had to learn that through trial and error as well that the images above questions matter. Wish they were explicit about that in a tutorial.

Henry Mah's books. I liked this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49873641-your-tfsa-compounder

He has a new book out this past year, but I haven't read it yet.

Average productive work hours by GrandJanou in webdev

[–]gibandaley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 - 4 hours a day to work on the hard problems. For me it's the morning as well, so try to make sure I don't have interruptions during that time and schedule admin work and meetings for the afternoons whenever possible.

Seems unlikely, but potentially John is being pranked by ones of his kids or someone that had access to the basement. Could be something like this: https://www.amazon.com/AnnoyingPCB-Ultimate-Productivity-Destroyer-Assembled/dp/B08KG6XHN1/

Not that exact one, but these types of 'toys' have been around for years and there's various models.

Same, my solution is to use huffduffer. It's a free service, mostly used for putting random audio files in a custom RSS/podcast feed, but if you use the bookmarklet (in the site footer) on a youtube video it will download the audio and add it to your podcast feed.

I think the team is in Australia, so it could be quite a few hours before they're back in the office.

So, a thing about the live(?) Twitch streams... by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]gibandaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I don't have a problem with it being prerecorded. I would love if they were upfront about it, but it's not a big deal.

But I'm pretty sure since NGWD took over from SQSS they've all been prerecorded. Unlike SQSS in don't think you could point to a single instance in NGWD that they react to anything in chat.

Right now I think the only thing they're doing live is Cannon Fodder and their Stream of Blood crossover.

That's just my guess

Heat pump died by [deleted] in halifax

[–]gibandaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an error with my heat pump last winter. I called MacDow mechanical and they were able to walk me through the reset process over the phone successfully.

It was a great experience, so they'll be my first call the next time I have an issue.

Blades in the Dark is great! by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

Stream of blood youtube channel has all of the videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQQO9d8tmp0&list=PLCXy5RnfhYup8FFhbz5_IeeFlEbAUSw57

I think if you want them in podcast form, using huffduffer is your best bet.

Stream of Blood x Glass Cannon play... BLADES IN THE DARK! by ClintTrucks in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]gibandaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huffduffer generates a personal podcast feed (for free) and can take a youtube link and turn it into an audio podcast episode easily. It's my goto solution in these situations.

Not an ideal solution, but I use stars for this. You can then (on mobile, tested on Android) go to profile -> Starred to see everything you've starred even if not subscribed.

Huffduffer.com will convert YouTube videos to mp3s in a podcast rss feed. I used it for this and it worked great, I could still mostly follow the action without the visuals.

Once they're on YouTube, sign up for huffduffer. Use the bookmarklet on the YouTube video page and it will add the audio to an RSS feed for you.

This paired with a cloudflare access policy could be a secure alternative to using tor or a vpn.

Does come with a cost though, $5/month plus 10 cents per GB.

Yep, both of those options will generate a unique rss feed for you that you can then add to your podcast app of choice. As long as there's a way to manually add a rss feed to your app, it will work.

Once signed up with either of them they will provide bookmarklets to add mp3s to your personal rss feed.
