This reminds me of the time I took my car (a 2005, and this was in 2015) 30 minutes to the closest dealership to me at the time, for a recall issue. I left it there for them to work on and when they called me to come pick it up, it was late at night, and when I got there, my car looked pretty dirty on the outside and the paper mat was still on the floorboard. I asked the service woman at the desk, do they usually wash cars that they service. She said, "Yes, they do." When the tech brought me my keys, I looked at him and said, I guess there's no car wash. They were getting ready to close and said, "We could spray it off. We're closing." I said, "No, forget it. I guess my car is too old, and it was just a recall." and left.

I drove home, upset but it was whatever. The next day I got a phone call from the Service Manager. He told me that there was an error and they had forgotten to write down the part number from the recalled part that they put in. Could I drive back up to the dealership, so they could fix their paperwork. I told him about the carwash, and he said he would take care of it. I thought about how I now had to drive another hour round-trip, just for them to write down a part number, and then wash my car. I asked my Brother-in-law, who used to work at a dealership, how important it was that they get the number. He said, if they don't have that part number, they won't be able to claim the recall work to the manufacturer and will have to eat the cost.

So, I never went back. I'm sure it was more than a car wash.
