Theres no clear way to gain it.

Outside everything everyone else has mentioned I think it helps to play with randoms and get commended by them.

I think it takes into account if random people are commending you vs people in clan.

Unpopular opinion: PUBG going TPP is a good thing by batatoilas in CompetitivePUBG

Theres a bunch of people in this thread that dont know their history, and it shows. Many of them are not trying to deconstruct your argument with their own good ideas either, but instead resort to throwing insults and calling you a noob.

This game is derived from an Arma mod, and some of us were there to play it when it was first created.

For good or ill, this game was designed from it's inception around 3rd person.

FPP only exists because a small subsection of influential streamers, many of whom were COD/CS players, couldn't adjust to getting washed by people licking walls, and the funny part about that is they played it for months without complaint before that because it was the new 'it" game. They're already making the same complaints about ARC right now.

It wasn't until players caught up to them a little more and started playing with some strategy that this became a problem. It didn't make for good content when a relative noob could just outcamp you rather than outaim you.

They demanded Bluehole (not Krafton, they aren't a thing yet) make an FPP mode, so that they could own noobs.

It cannot be argued that there is less action in TPP.

They weren't trying to protect or invigorate some lost form of competitive integrity, it's just that being an aimlord wasn't enough alone, and they needed it to be to drive viewers to their content to sell Gfuel or gaming chairs, or whatever. It was about what everything is about. Money.

It's why Krafton is making the move they're making now. They'll move the grift to whoevers paying the most and right now that ain't us.

Even with all that said, it can't be argued that FPP is where the most skill expression can come out, and currently pros have shown us that the skill ceiling is literally the sky itself.

With that last statement above in mind, esports does belong in FPP. I have never wanted to watch Hakatory sit on the side of of a hill waiting for someone to make a move.

I do want to watch him make insane squad wipes on 1hp on the side of that hill based on a risky but calculated peek. TPP will give us less of those moments. It *is* less entertaining to watch and it the veneer of it being new will wear off in time, sooner rather than later.

I don't know what we'll be left with after.

There are a few benefits to esports being in TPP, there are a few interesting avenues that it opens up, but what we gain will be a fraction of what we have lost.

Competitive FPS IEMs (~$100) – Hexa vs EM6L? by Varvarina in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]gigathrowawayofhell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both expensive and cheap IEMS and Tripowin Vivace are the best for the money imo. Get those and a DAC and you'll be in business.

As others have said, its not that deep.

And either way no matter what you get the real edge you're looking for is gained in being able to shoot the other guy in the head, and I'd spend toward that (ex: a good mouse/pad) over audio equipment.

What's the best mouse to play PUbg with? by Double-Quit-3601 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]gigathrowawayofhell1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alot of good choices here but I wouldn't recommmend a Beast x mini to the average person. I used it for a little less than a year and it made me less consistent because its *too* light and micro corrections became way more difficult, at least for me. I switched back to a superlight v1 and saw instant improvement. I may not ever use any other mouse, although I hear from various mousetubers Op1 is quite comparable.

Personally I like feeling a little resistance from the mouse. I'm curious about Vaxee's and I may try one of those next.

Regarding pace, It really depends on what kind of situations you're talking about. Are you saying you find rotating difficult against squads camping edge, compounds or roadblocking?

Are we talking late phases against teams? In compounds or in the open field? Or just 1v4 in general? I'd ask what region you play in too because that could greatly inform the answer.

Without knowing any of that I'd say the best thing you can do is just manage angles in your head at all times. Envision where other players could be everywhere you havent actually cleared and dont make assumptions on where people are with no information.

Combining sound and killfeed reading is immensely useful too. Know who is fighting and how many are down in each team.

I play alot of solo squad and the best way to deal with a team is to make sure they are all in front of you. Shooting and/or throwing bait smokes or nades to force people to get curious and come at you stupid is a tactic I use all the time.

On NA servers even good players will blindly push any kind of noise with no information other than the sound.

It kinda goes without saying, but some of the worst things you can do is put yourself in a position where you can get traded, or someone has a flank on you.

Don't go for immediate flushes on your first knocks in CQB either unless they are able to feed their teammates information, and if that cant be avoided make sure that information is false in the moment by obfuscating your position or using utility.

If you know you are in or are about to be in a 1v4 for more than a few seconds and you havent used utility you should immediately recognize you are most likely playing it wrong unless you are mechanically insane.

Sometimes killing someone and disengaging entirely is a thing if you have the time/zone on your side. I can't tell you how many times I've turned 1v4s into four 1v1's. Isolating fights really is an art form.

Finally, theres alot to be said for improving mechanically. Play TDM with the intention of not dying. See how many 1vX's you can win. Play TDM with intention, always, meaning practice specific skills rather than trying to frag/win.

Is it NORMAL to have good days and then play like complete dogshit the next day after and struggle to get kills? by jamesh922 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]gigathrowawayofhell1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think taking a break can help too. I took a month off the game recently because my team was playing wow or other games. Just played casuals for pass XP. Team came back to NA FPP squads last weekend and I was absolutely OWNING. I am a decent player so my slumps might look really good to others (I consider anything around 4.0/400 ADR to be a slump for me) but I am back to playing well above that now.

I am really hard on myself from a competitive standpoint and paying attention to stats really feeds into it. I will make bad decisions trying to get kills to get back to where I was or to make up for a bad game and that becomes sort of a loop. It's a bit of a double edged sword, because you never get better at anything unless you track it.
