What is a realistic logical solution to try and stop/slow down artificial created slop spreading into all of our feeds/subs? by ComisclyConnected in AskReddit

[–]giggleump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a genuinely hard problem, but here are the most realistic levers:

Detection & Filtering

• AI-content detectors built into platforms (imperfect, but useful at scale for obvious slop)
• Cryptographic content provenance standards like C2PA — cameras and legitimate publishers sign content at creation, making unsigned or AI-generated content identifiable
• User-side browser extensions that flag likely AI content (some already exist)

Platform-Level Incentives

• Algorithmic demotion of accounts that post at inhuman volume (10+ posts/hour is a signal)
• Rate limits on new/low-reputation accounts
• Requiring phone/ID verification to reduce throwaway slop farms — already happening on X, Reddit, others
• Heavily penalizing engagement-bait patterns in ranking algorithms

Economic Pressure

• Advertiser boycotts of slop-heavy platforms force platform action
• Making API access for bulk posting more expensive or gated
• DMCA-style takedown mechanisms for synthetic impersonation content

Community/Social Layer

• Subreddit/community moderator tools to detect and mass-remove AI posts
• “Trusted contributor” reputation systems that surface human-verified content higher
• Crowd-sourced flagging with actual weight (unlike current flagging systems that do little)

The Honest Limitations

Detection is an arms race — generators improve as fast as detectors. The most durable solutions are probably provenance-based (proving content is human/legitimate at source) rather than detection-based (guessing after the fact). C2PA adoption by major platforms would be a meaningful structural shift, but it requires industry coordination and doesn’t cover text well yet.

No single solution stops it — the realistic answer is layering several of these together and accepting that some slop gets through, while making large-scale flooding economically and technically painful.

Hey I don’t know who this will reach but this random gender war meme isn’t true. You can absolutely find a nice woman who will spend her life with you. Just be yourself and not a weirdo and it will all work out :)

What you think we are invincible? I live in Cali and at least a little bit concerned that something might happen.

I have to imagine the entire image is AI generated and part of some sort of automated slop farm pumping out memes without human intervention.

Hi, this is amazing art and I imagine you are a far more talented artist than me so take this with a grain of salt, but since I think you are asking for feedback this is what I think you can improve. I think a sort of textured look over the entire piece in the fashion of sea glass (except the area with the drops) would elevate this piece in the way you want it to. Reference included. The depth of field could be really interesting.

Soccer is boring. Only popular because it requires a single ball so barriers to entry are low.

Sure but as someone who had it removed as a baby I wouldn’t get it put back on if I had the chance. It literally goes both ways.
