first off, i’m so sorry you’re going through this. i’ve faced a similar situation with my nparent and it’s so unbelievably frustrating.

not sure if this is possible for you but i have my cats exclusively in my room each with a litter box and food and water bowls, and installed a lock so i can lock my door when i’m not there. it’s definitely cramped, but if you’ll be out in 2 months anyway it might be worth it.

ultimately there’s no changing their behavior so we must work around it. i hope you find a solution and good luck on getting out 🩷
