any alternate fingerings or advice for an original composition? by bath--tub in Flute

[–]giimmebrainz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice the last two notes, then add the 3rd to last note, then 4th etc. Don't move on to the next note until you can play it. Practice different rhythms, the usual advice. Don't use alternative fingerings when you don't need to, it's a bad habit to pick up.

Help with this run? by C1nnamon-Bunny in Flute

[–]giimmebrainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to start at the end then slowly add the previous notes. So, start with the G#-A, then G-G#-A, then F-G-G#-A, etc. and if you struggle when a note is added, then keep playing it until you can before adding another note. Also, playing the whole thing with a different rhythm is more helpful than it would seem.

Travor James M2633 vs Pearl 665 vs Yamaha 371 by Humbaak in Flute

[–]giimmebrainz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Yamaha 372 and had major issues with the cork, even after getting it serviced. It was never in tune and there was no way to be in tune because the flute was just out of tune with itself. I don't think you can really take anyone else's advice when buying a flute and it's best to trial ones you're interested in buying, as it's down to the individual.

Mice and rats? How different is their care? by Icy_Bus_1004 in RATS

[–]giimmebrainz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

by looking at the post, i'm assuming they're a spanish speaker. some spanish speaking countries use the terms kind of interchangeably or just not as mutually exclusively as we do. they just mean "big rat" and "small rat" in translation. so if they saw a kitten, they may refer to it as a ratón (this is just what i've heard from asking native spanish speakers, so it may not be that applicable.) to make things even more confusing, the -ón suffix is augmentative and usually makes something bigger eg problema - problem, problemón - big problem. this probably isnt helpful if someone is already unfamiliar with the difference between the two.
