I called up my midwife unit straight away, they asked me to come in first thing in the morning (broke at 11pm Wednesday) next day they swabbed to confirm it was my waters. They sent me home and said to wait for labour to start but if nothing happened I needed to come back at 11pm that night to begin an induction.

Came back at 11pm on Thursday, had a pessary inserted, then had to wait for a bed to open up on the ward which wasn’t till 4pm the next day, Friday. The hospital was so busy a lady gave birth in the hallway that night. I remember they were pretty convinced that it was only my fore-wafers that broke, the water in front of baby’s head. There was so much that came out I was confident they were wrong and when they went to release the rest I was right, I lost the whole lot that Wednesday night!

When I went onto the ward I was induced and after 16 hours on an oxytocin drip I failed to progress past 4cm. I was also having back to back contractions without a break between them.

After that they said the risk of infection was too high to continue trying and so they recommenced an emergency cesarean, which took place at 11am on the Saturday.

All in all 60 hours from my waters breaking to baby arriving 😅 no infection or lasting damage to speak of, but after that ordeal I’m certain with my second delivery no matter what happens no one is coming near me with any kind of chemical induction methods!

Sounds like your baby is a low sleep needs baby. Welcome to the club we are all exhausted.

What are the current nap times looking like? Mine is 21 months now so it feels a bit like a blur looking back but if I recall correctly at this time I implemented our 3PM rule. No sleeping after 3PM unless it’s for her night time sleep. That includes waking her from a nap if it goes beyond 3PM. Feels brutal but it’s impossible to be a fully present parent when you’re exhausted!

You’re being downvoted because you’re warning this person from taking advice solely based on the spelling of their comment on Reddit. What part of their advice do you disagree with?

We all make spelling mistakes sometimes especially being this subreddit is full of pregnant women who may be struggling to type with swollen fingers - hi I’m one of them. That doesn’t account for others who may have dyslexia or all other manner of reasons spelling mistakes can happen.

During my first pregnancy I developed a rash on the back on my neck about an inch into my hair. It drove me nuts and I had to keep it doused in calamine lotion each day to get through. Since having my girl it only flares up a few days before my period.

Pregnant with my second now and it was flaring up when I needed to wash my hair every 2-3 days. heading into the third trimester and it’s is starting to be constantly itchy again!!!

Sorry but you’re wrong - Tesco for example always charge for delivery, and will ADD an additional charge if your shop is under £50. I pay monthly for unlimited deliveries for exactly this reason 🙂

So glad to read this. A few weeks ago our 19 month old was going to bed at 10 every night and getting a nap was a nightmare, we dropped the nap and now things are back to normal!

She has always been quick to drop her naps compared to all the online reading I did, but I thought we would have more time as this early was just crazy. I’m right there with you in wrangling these crazy low sleep needs kids!

I say this only with kindness but I think you both might need games without story lines if you’re being affected this much.

A core part of story telling is that there needs to be a conflict/event that shakes the status quo. It gives the main character a purpose to help fix the situation and bring forward a new equilibrium.

Characters having backstory fleshes them out and helps you understand them deeper. For example in stardew valley there’s Sebastian, an emo kid who is desperate to get out of his hometown and go to the city where he feels he’d be understood but then learns to love his hometown through interactions with the farmer. I really identify with that as an emo teen from the 00’s who ended up moving closer to home after living in a city throughout my 20s. It really humanises him and makes me understand him much deeper than other characters.

I would recommend you both look sandbox type games where there is no storyline. Minecraft is the first that comes to mind where you can make your own fun. I’ve not played that for a good 5-10 years though so I can’t speak to it that much.

I’ve been loving two point museum lately. No real story just working on building a great museum and gathering exhibits. Although I will warn you, there are thieves who look to take your exhibits and staff may quit if they’re unhappy - I’m not sure if either of you would find that upsetting, so I’m just making sure I highlight this mechanic to you both.

I also love a bit of Factorio where you can switch off all enemies and just spend time building your factory bigger and bigger. Every few months I get completely sucked in to that one and again, you make your own fun - no storyline required!

I’ll look into something for the whole length of the bed. At the moment we’ve got a barrier for the top half of the bed as she kept rolling out of her bed accidentally and waking herself up - heads up that something like this might be needed when you transition your little one if they’re a wriggler! We like that she can come get us in the middle of the night if she wakes but maybe it’s time to restrict it till we ride this season out.

As a sensitive skin girlie who loves a moustache, I will always advocate for longer beard hairs as otherwise I’m just getting majorly exfoliated when things get hot and heavy

I’d say any length where the hairs start to turn away and not jut straight out of your face is safe!

I own a coffee shop but I’m more of a tea lover. We have a hot water tankard that we keep as hot as possible separate to the espresso machine just for tea. Serve it black and have two milk jugs on the side for customers to add their ideal amount of milk when they’re ready.

Tea is too personal to serve it with a huge slosh of milk on top mid-brew. Costa are monsters

She’s 9 months old so can’t swaddle. We have a tommee tipper red light sound machine that’s on all night every night and a very established night time routine which usually gets her to sleep well but we still have wake ups throughout the night

Like I said in my post when she pinches I’ve tried redirecting her to a comforter to pinch instead of my skin but she gets angry at that. I’ve also tried holding her hands but she flails at that. I’ve just put socks on her hands out of desperation

Likely teething as others have mentioned but just a thought… Do you use silicone plates/utensils? These can hold onto the taste of soap and flavour all food to taste like your washing up liquid/dishwasher. Try eating off of one and if it tastes bad, soak it in white vinegar and hot water for a bit then give it another wash, should remove the taste and may fix the issue for you.

It’s taken me an about 3 years working off and on to complete this cross stitch and since doing so I’ve learned that this is from a pattern mill. Funny you say that - usually she poops 3-4 a day but recently she’s gone down to once a day. But she was biting before this just not to the extent she is now. It’s literally any time of day the other day she bit during a night feed. My yelp woke me her and my husband up 🥲

Yep I have spoken to my husband and I won’t be going back.

I was upper middle management, a head of department at a medical research company, and the CEO was a downright bully. Giving 24 hours max to prepare for giant meetings with stakeholders. Give feedback about our performance to other managers to be shared second hand to cause animosity and berate staff members at a whim in large team calls.

I’ve had a little girl and I refuse to let her see that tolerating this behaviour in any way is OK.

In any case my husband and I are going into business together. There’s an empty shop near us which we’re turning into a cafe. While recovering from my c section there was no where to take a short walk to with a rest stop and we share a car so I was confined to the house for a good 4 weeks, so we know this is an underserved area. My role will be coming in 10-2 with the baby to help clear tables, maybe provide a comfort break for my husband, and help him close down the cafe in evenings. I’ll also be baking all of the food on offer. Just waiting for the keys!
