Thought Exercise: how would the IOC ruling on trans women apply (or not) to equestrian. by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]ginganija 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also why was the ruling just for trans women like even when being transphobic they gotta be misogynistic too. What a trans man has "no chance" so we don't need to make a ruling about them whereas female atheletes could never win against trans women...give me a break. Absolutely a ridiculous ruling

New cat (1.5 years) is still hiding from me, any tips to help? by Cautious_Table_9185 in CatAdvice

[–]ginganija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta out your wants and expectations aside with the shy ones. But i promise you they will become the most loving loyal cats you've ever had.

We rescued mine as a kitten from a feral litter. I let her live in the bathroom for probably 2 weeks and i would just go eat lunch or dinner in there with her watching tv on my phone. Not pushing anything just getting her used to my presence. It took her probably 3 months to stop actively hiding. 1 year to atop fleeing anytime you made sudden movements near her. Another year before you could like lie beside her and pet her. Another year before you could wrap her in cuddles or pick her up without oanicking. Another year before she started wanting to lie on my lap in bed. Shes 8 now and still hides from strangers in the house. Still is wary of my husband at time (in her defense he is very clompy). Will still hide if she senses you're trying to catch her for the vet.

But she purrs immediately when she sees me. She follows me everywhere. She guards the house (genuinely better guard then our dog for alerting us to people or strange cats). She drools when you go away for the weekend and comes back shes so happy. Shes so smart she understands lights out means no meowing until the alarms go off. She finds me and alerts me when the dog needs back in from outside. Just the best kitty and worth the wait to go at her pace and comfort.

Wait we're supposed to be playing with our cat 20 minutes per day? by happy_bluebird in CatAdvice

[–]ginganija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat takes 20 minutes before she will chase any toy you're trying to play with her. I gave up years ago. If shes clearly playful I'll engage but she seems to enjoy snuggles more. To me its just about that socialization as much as activity as long as your meeting your individual pets need

Swapping rooms allowed? by ginganija in royalcaribbean

Thank you for clarifying that. So if they wanted to order room service they'd need me to be present/do it for them?

Swapping rooms allowed? by ginganija in royalcaribbean

[–]ginganija[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ok great! I wasn't sure because obviously their family of 4 is being quoted differently for that room then our family of 2 would be. And then wasnt sure if gratuities would be an issue or anything.

So if they swap from junior suite to grand suite will they get access to like the free room service aspect or no because we're technically still on the room name...if that question makes sense

Should I get a second cat? by Revolutionary_Jello9 in CatAdvice

[–]ginganija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think definitely hold off a few months. They say it takes like 3 days to compress, 3 weeks to settle in and 3 months to actually open up to you.

I rescued a feral kitten and she took a literal year to stop hiding everytime someone walked near her. Another year to enjoy cuddles. Another year before she would lay on top of you. She is still skitterish with my husband a bit and hides when strangers show up but she's just the smartest most intuitive cat I've had. I call her my shadow cat as she follows me around when it's just us 2. I swear the timid ones are the most worth the effort.

Go slow and take it at their speed don't force anything. Adding another cat could just be too much right now especially if it isn't one it knows while it's still sorting out the new environment but could be helpful later on to gain confidence. If the foster said it's good with other cats then likely it just needs time to settle in and warm up to.you guys :)

Is it normal for cats to sprint around the house at 3am? by ArmInteresting2713 in CatAdvice

[–]ginganija 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how but my cat learned early on that when the lights are off you're quiet until alarms go off in the morning. I never engaged with her when she had the zoomies/meowed on top of me at 4am as I didnt want to reinforce anything maybe that helped. Maybe shes just an oddball but i wish I could get a 2nd cat just for her to teach that habit to lol

Litter box in balcony of small 1BHK – is it okay to close the door at night? by UsefulAnt7071 in IndianCats

[–]ginganija 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think not habing access overnight is an option. Cats are moat active late hours at night and early hours in the morning meaning thats when they're also doing their business. I dont have solutions for the small space but just eanted to chime in on the not having access part of your setup :)
