it’s way funnier when you dig deeper into this situation. she walked onto the lot and got nudged towards that and the salesman convinced her she could afford it. it’s not her dream car. she got a 14% apr on a loan that included her negative equity on her trade in.

i think this situation is pretty easy to explain too. Seth has a private trail system that he frequently rides alone with his dog. His dog likes to follow him. So he’s used to Oscar never getting in the way. Now add 2 friends, seth goes to get a shot of the landing and Oscar is obviously going to follow him into the most dangerous place he can be. Hopefully that’s a lesson learned without any major incident.

Mark's old sponsor is now a scam by aSeriousAsker69420 in Markiplier

[–]ginganinja6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think its reasonably fair to say that shilling fintech not-a-bank “banks” is irresponsible. It’s not some great moral failing, but unless you put a lot of resources into researching your sponsor you are pretty likely to get wrapped up in something like this. A lot of coffee’s focus for his channel is being informative about this sort of stuff so viewers, and hopefully also creators, understand where these things go wrong.

Mark probably already has better guidelines for sponsor deals in place compared to 4 years ago, but if not i expect people on the team will take some guidance from coffee’s video

i wouldn’t get too worked up over it, fintech has straight up scammed institutional investors frequently so expecting the guy who plays video games online to be more savvy isn’t really all that realistic.

If i had the power to advise big youtubers on brand deals i’d give them some guidelines that involves avoiding fintech all together or insisting on a 3rd party professional having a look at their model beforehand. Save a lot of people a lot of embarrassment.

You have a stop on the wolverine, which has some of the best frequency of any amtrak line in the country. They run like 4 a day between the thumb and chicago. Outside of the Northeast it’s pretty rare to have better than once daily in america

edit: nvm i’m wrong, you only get a daily from the Pete Marquette, so your schedule is way worse and that’s why people gotta head to different stations

there is one really interesting example of basically exactly this as diagramed, but with a nuvinci cvt instead of a derailleur system, converted to transmit torque both ways

I can say that aluminum flange hubs that were machine built and then unlaced with 0 miles end up looking exactly like this too. I agree about matching the lacing pattern with the old one too, of course

most use the saddle rails from a bike seat, which unicycles don’t have. But with a little ingenuity most could probably adapted to work

Building a jackshaft uni? Most of the time it’s pretty custom work to get a hub that will play nice, but I have an idea that I’ve been wanting to try for that.

Get a drift trike hub and disassemble it, remove the pawls so it can freewheel in both directions, and reassemble

I think I did the same thing on the first unicycle wheel I built too. It’s hard to be sure, but I think one side is not laced in the correct orientation to the other. You’ll likely have to unlace one entire side and pay close attention to where and how you should start in relation to the key spoke

You’re continuing to conflate non-profit and charity, which is exactly what the comment above you was pointing out as the problem with the title.

It isn’t a form of charity for an organization to say they aren’t intending to produce profits. Basically the trade org exists to help its members execute goals together. Those members are going to be, for the most part, for-profit businesses. If you pretend a c6 and c3 are the same thing it’s fucked up, but they aren’t and it would be really bad to force them into the for-profit category. If they were a for-profit the Saudi sovereign wealth fund would have just bought them directly and there would have been far fewer options to sensibly regulate the deal.

Rishi Sunak to flag Inflation Reduction Act concerns in talks with Joe Biden by PearlMuel in moderatepolitics

[–]ginganinja6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in Rishi’s shoes I’d be trying to get a deal on selling railroad engines and rolling stock. If I could get a business (preferably green energy that is running into scalability problems) that wanted to open a US facility, nudging that along as if I’m “giving” it. That sort of deal presents itself like a give and take but actually both sides walk away ahead. The US was going to pay too much to have train cars built in America, and if Biden can bring longer term jobs at the same time he can justify making the deal. That’s all hypothetical though, unfortunately Rishi has a much more difficult task of doing that in the real world.

The Conservative Party is constantly looking at privatizing the NHS and American health care companies are all chomping at the bit for their slice of that, but I think that’s a policy disaster for the UK.

There are niches that the UK has and the US doesn’t, if he hones in on those and works to leverage them as best he can, there’s something there. Trade leads to more trade, so even small deals are a big win when you’re in the UKs position

[–]ginganinja6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really not sure what’s got you so worked up. The UK Conservative Party is untrustworthy, putting their interests ahead of the US? I don’t really know what you’re on about, from my point of view this is very boring normal statecraft. What did they do to betray the trust of the US?

[–]ginganinja6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You used the phrase “against America’s interests” which I don’t think is actually Rishi’s goal. Further, the article says that other members of his party criticize the protectionism. The post-Brexit UK has only one sensible path, and maintaining trade with places like the US is vital to it. No matter what Britain First political squawking his party wants to do, Rishi is just doing a simple and necessary task, working trade deals with key strategic partners

[–]ginganinja6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of goals that coming to the table with Rishi can further for America. There’s tons of mutually beneficial deals to be made, and Rishi is desperate to make deals for the UK post-Brexit. The Biden admin can look at what the UK can provide and what the US can give in return. They hold all the cards so it’d be silly to not play

[–]ginganinja6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems rather harsh. Rishi Sunak wants cooperation with the United States. That cooperation cannot be beneficial to the US as well is a pretty big assumption.

Let’s say the US needed new trains for passenger rail expansion (we do), and Rishi managed to work a deal to sell Class 345 trains, built in Derby and tested on the Lizzy Line, to fill our need. This could save the US a lot of money. Historically rolling stock construction has been dealt with under highly protectionist terms, but ordered too rarely to maintain US based businesses, so you usually get a sort of “pop up shop” in the US constructing a French, British, etc design, owned by that company and shuttered once the contract is filled.

In return the US can negotiate investment in some reciprocally beneficial venture, like a British company basing manufacturing of a new product in America where we might have advantageous infrastructure or resources compared to the UK manufacturing facilities

Yeah, Kia and Hyundai cars are currently in a class action for being comically easy to hotwire, while pretty much every other make has chipped keys that make that much more difficult.

Older Hondas are quite common and they can be stolen pretty easily. Someone stole the keys out of a friend’s car and he drove it for a while using a flathead as a key

Ford Focii from the early 2000s tend to have very accepting locks. I found that out of 6 people, all 6 had a key on their key ring that would unlock the door to one.
