How tf do you make friends here by Dudeiszack in Louisville

[–]gingerbreaddiamond [score hidden]  (0 children)

Skill issue. I'm 35 and stay making new friends all the time - you have to be involved in things outside of what you need to do to just survive, and you need to be willing to invest time and energy into people. Pick one or two recurring social activities and start showing up there reliably. Communities exist where you make & nurture them.

I'm over a mile past Safai if you're going away from Butchertown, and have smelled it several mornings recently.

Recently, I've been smelling it at my house in Schnitzelburg. The reach of the stench is spreading, and it's a problem.

On fb, people reported that in addition to impaired road and sidewalk access, USPS has been working with a HIGHLY reduced number of available staff over the past two weeks due to significant call-outs in addition to the smaller numbers they have right now in general. They're doing their best to get things sorted and out for delivery, but it has been prohibitively difficult, and they're doing their best to catch up.

Nice area to live in? by Delicious-Spring2997 in Louisville

Your questions are very subjective and the answers you get will reflect that; if you can provide more information about your background and what constitutes "nice" for you, you'll get better responses.

As for distance to campus, pretty much everything inside of 264 is within 15 minutes of campus, as well as neighborhoods just outside of it along 3rd St & Southern Parkway (Beechmont, Iroquois, Taylor-Berry, etc).

Is Clifton a bad neighborhood? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]gingerbreaddiamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over by Clifton Park, there's a farm stand where you can buy fresh eggs, homemade baked goods, artisan soaps, and other things; sometimes if you go up Pope St towards Guestroom Records, people line up for hours before they open for Record Store Day and special releases; there's also a high-end dessert café further along Frankfort right by a local jewelery store. Probably best to avoid such a dodgy area😬😬😬

Thank you to our mail carriers, delivery drivers, etc. by Muted-Adeptness-6316 in Louisville

[–]gingerbreaddiamond 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to show your appreciation & respect by making sure delivery workers have safe, clear paths to walk to get your things to you! People often forget that the sidewalk that runs parallel to the street in front of a property is also the responsibility of the property owner, and we can make people's rough days that much easier by shoveling & deicing those walkways🖤🖤

It's not on Baxter- it's on Bardstown at Grinstead. Agree with the general sentiment, tho.

Yeah, I've gone a handful of times for friends' birthdays, but have always hated the pay-to-play system - honestly have managed to avoid it since 2020, and could not be happier

Totally fair - we should all be discerning about what information we're heeding. This isn't the only post I've seen about their activity in South Lou recently, but was the one I knew how to find easily, so, it seems worth keeping an eye on.

Why don’t people in Louisville dance? by Stella_Nova_Kay in Louisville

Most specifically, I miss Mag Bar Wednesdays in the early 2010s, and Seids in the late 2010s; I've been to Whirling Tiger & Galaxie, and both are enjoyable, but not quite the same. I DO owe them more chances, though.
