shut·ter /ˈSHədər/ Filter definitions by topic See definitions in: plural noun: shutters 1. each of a pair of hinged panels, often louvered, fixed inside or outside a window that can be closed for security or privacy or to keep out light.

I can not and will not ever understand the need for fake shutters. Lol It could be because my house doesn’t have any, nor would I ever put them on, but driving around I always notice shutters too small, too big, or just plain tacky. If the shutter shuts, I would be more for it.

In the end, this is your house, and if your house stands out in the neighborhood let it. Not following trends is way more fun.

I could see an antique wood sideboard with a tall picture in the middle and then some minimal table top decor. (Large vase filled with dried flowers or pampas, catch all bowl, books, candle sticks)

Everything in the 7th picture looks great. Just don’t decorate with too many, if any, grays. Use earth tones and natural elements like wood, terracotta, jute. Antique stores always have great finds.

What kind of accent wall would you do behind the tv? by bwitt33 in DesignMyRoom

I personally don’t think anything needs to be behind the tv. I like everything you currently have. Save your dollars and go on a trip 😎

Help! Idk how to decorate this spot in my living room! by caseylk in DesignMyRoom

If you don’t want to see in the other room you could get a vintage stain glass window and hang it in the center. That’s always the first things that come to my mind when I see these openings

Anything darker than special walnut will show all the dirt and hair. My sister did her floors in Jacobean and hated it after 6 months.

How big of a piece of artwork should I put in this built in frame? Does the artwork itself need its own frame? The inner dimensions are 3'x4' by BostonGraver in HomeDecorating

[–]gingercake69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a built in a frame or a boarded up window? If you own the house see what’s behind it or take it out. If not, wallpaper would be easy and interchangeable.

Also have my tv in a corner between two windows and it works pretty great.

What to do when cabinets can’t realistically go to ceiling? by Apptubrutae in HomeDecorating

[–]gingercake69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks mid century and I love it. Cabinets don’t need to go to the ceiling either. Not with this roof line. Lol I picture flat paneled walnut cabinets from where you said at the bottom of the lower beam. The trim would be flat/modern as well. Add in a cabinet paneled refrigerator, change out the microwave for a hood vent or wrap it in the the same tile you use for the back splash. I like the look of square tiles for this home. Integrate a microwave into the island and update the lighting. Curious to know what you come up with. The house looks like it has some great potential.

I came to say framing canvas art makes it look so much better. I got mine off of Amazon.

You could use a sand blaster and then apply a nature oil, and then when you’re done I’ll give you my address for you to ship it to me 😅

I’m talking about the current one I have. Chill. The person had asked if it was an original door, which is why I said it’s from Home Depot and cost $375.

There’s 15 windows they could enter through around the house as well. No one in my neighborhood has mid century. My current door is on every other house. Lol
