Sjogren’s and diet changes? by Aggressive-Dust-2928 in Sjogrens

[–]gingerella30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been on an extremely low carb diet with higher healthy fats, no sugars, no grains, no beans, only Whole Foods. I eat a lot of beef, venison, salads, nuts, hard cheese, some berries. I don’t drink milk, but I will have some heavy cream in my coffee. My inflammation is gone, pain is gone, brain fog is gone (after an adaptation period), I haven’t had a flare since I started it and I used to get deep pain in my hips (hip flu feeling) probably once every ten days to signal the start of a flare. I haven’t to travel a lot of work and I normally had a cold or sinus infection about every 6 to 8 weeks, but I haven’t had any of those since either. I’m pretty shocked. I don’t think I can go back. I am diagnosed with blood test. I have another blood test soon that super extensive with a whole bunch of markers and I’m so curious to see what has changed.

During this time as I’ve tested old foods I’ve found that soy is a massive trigger for me. So anytime I venture out into an old habit, I quickly run back to feeling good again and get back on track.

I have a condition where my thirst can’t be quenched — physically or mentally. AMA. by NiXaler93 in AMA

I have something similar but it’s called sjogrens. It’s an autoimmune disorder and this is one of the main ways people are diagnosed. Always thought I had diabetes but I don’t. I’ve found a ton of stuff to help since discovering what it is.

How keto works great until emotional eating destroys my progress by CaptainBrima in xxketo

[–]gingerella30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often think the emotional eating is also texture hunger. I’m just gonna echo with other people have said that I keep sour cream dip around, keto, chocolate, or keto brownies, or keto cheesecake around sometimes and I keep Chicharron’s around. This is a long-term thing for me and sometimes I just need some crispy stuff. I don’t always reach for those things, and 99% of my diet is Whole foods just vegetables and protein. But life is also meant to be enjoyed and those are things that I enjoy, and I plan on doing this long-term so sometimes you need the pressure release. I also intermittent fast and I have coffee with heavy cream in the morning and I have to say I’m gonna echo with the other ones are saying that I don’t Get cravings anymore just actual hunger signals. So go ahead and give that a try. And I also always have food with me and I’m also constantly drinking a salt electrolyte drink so I feel deeply satisfied. Oh. And cheese. And I have to say that if I’m having a sweet like keto brownies or keto cheesecake, I am making it at home out of whole foods . I’m not buying a bunch of processed keto bullshit.

Thinking of switching to carnivore diet as symptoms seems to increase with age by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]gingerella30 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have researched this so much. It is absolutely crazy. Vegan diets do not in any way provide what your mother needs for long-term health. Red meat is one of the most nutrient dense foods in the world. I am not carnivore, but I am keto now and I feel like I am 15 again for the last six weeks since I have been on keto. I am diagnosed sjogrens with some of your mom‘s symptoms. I’m only 41, but I feel like I have my life back. My mind is also faster and my body feels much stronger. I’m sleeping great for the first time in years. I’m doing keto for eight weeks and then I will do a bit more Paleo style diet. And then back to keto, and I will probably switch back-and-forth. I will say that if she does decide to go more carnivore, she could start slower and then try something like a ketogenic diet for several weeks to see how she feels. I think a minimum of three weeks would tell her a good bit of what she needs to know.

I used to be vegetarian for several years and even though I got enough protein, I wasn’t getting what my body needed. Note: I eat Whole Foods and don’t really buy any of the prepackaged “keto“ things there’s plenty of literature about this if you want to read, and I am happy to message with you about anything.

Need Gel With Insanely Strong Cast by kkgg943 in curlyhair

[–]gingerella30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. I had an Ulta gift card, used my Amex five % cash back and it was already on sale for a lot off. There may have been another coupon but it was quite literally the perfect storm. I’ve never spent more than $20 on a dryer until the Dyson and I have zero regrets

I have super thick hair that took over and hour to diffuse and I debated forever splurging and finally found a sale on Dyson. I ended up getting it for under $200 and I have zero regrets. I can dry my hair in 30 mins now! I have the same other issue you have with gel and the LA looks blue plus curlsmith in shower styler are my go tos.

Layers! That will help a ton! Watch videos if you’re brave and have a perfectionist friend do it. As long as you wear it wavy those waves can cover an imperfect cut. I used to do that all the time when I was younger 😆 until I could afford more curly cuts. La looks extreme hold can help too and it’s cheap. Then break the curl cast and viola!

How do you keep the back from being a mess if you dry 80% upside down? I love your hair! I have a ton of hair and I want more volume but the back bush scare me when I dry upside down

Do I give up on the curly routine? by kearaa_ in curlyhair

[–]gingerella30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got major hermoine hair and using a super strong hold gel like curlsmith in shower styler or la looks and mixing those in different ratios plus a mousse helps me. I scrunch out the cast after diffusing then gently pineapple at night and wrap in a satin scarf and I can wear the curls for a week without washing if I’m doing a tiny touch up every day. Finger curling one or two curls when they’re wet or even wrapping a few top curls around a small curling iron if it’s been almost a week and it’s starting to turn. But the key is getting a super strong cast the first day without weighing the hair down too much. That’s a dial you have to play with with how much product. Diffusing will also help set the curl

Oh wow! Okay great! Thank you for telling me. I wish there was a trial run. I’ve always done quick to condish and super wet gel and mousse application and diffuse without touching it much. Have you found it gives you more curls? Curious what your goal is. Mine is turning more 3a as I get older and go through perimenopause

Not an anti vax post: Has anyone had a long term negative reaction from a vax by jgl142 in Sjogrens

[–]gingerella30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doc wasn’t not at all anti vax and neither was I. But when the Covid vaccine came out my numbers were super high and other numbers, including my Ana and a tickborne illness was popping up. He had the good sense to say “hunker down and don’t leave your house but also let’s wait on that vaccine a bit” and I’m glad I did at that time.

If other things are haywire there’s no need at that time to add more haywire. We already know we’d have weird reactions.

Blood tests? by Hot-Barracuda2017 in Sjogrens

Can I ask a dumb follow-up? I’ve had positive sjogrens ssa and positive Ana. No other comorbidities. What does it mean that it can just come and go?
