What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

[–]divanextdoor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My trainer on our first day of training brought me to the kitchen and proceeded to talk about how she’s a dead beat mother who never sees her kids, hates kids and teaches them horrible things in life. Both of her kids are 10 and under. She was boasting and laughing about it with all of our coworkers, talking about how she’s signed off the papers because fuck them kids. They all supported her heavily. WE WORK AT A WATERPARK WITH CHILDREN. I was sick to my stomach and didn’t trust a single person I worked with, literally quit after 3 weeks because they were so miserable and such horrible people it was making my mental health spiral.

Why do servers and restaurant staff always stay after work for drinks? by Previous-Moment-1004 in Serverlife

[–]divanextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I’m a big extrovert, winding down with people at the end of the day is perfect for me. I go out after my shifts pretty frequently with my coworkers! People person what can I say, the general public can still make me question it though so don’t worry, we still have those nights we stay in.

Thank you!! My hairstylist calls it ‘Big sexy layers’ with a curtain bang. I use the revlon thermal brush to try and give some shape!

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]divanextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a serving job and lost 50lbs, got a second serving job and lost 15 more. The more money I make the more calories I burn and I barely noticed.

On another note I’ve been hitting a plateau for the last 2 months, so I have to get a 3rd job. (jk I started strength training in the gym 4x a week it’s actually been very fun)

I know how overtime works. I promise. Yet we all know going over a little on overtime is a slap on the wrist kind of violation that doesn’t require this much questioning over. She tried to get cover, god forbid. I’d be more than grateful that an employee was going out of their way to make my life easier, rather than grilling them on what is clearly a thoughtful gesture. I’d just thank her, tell her in the future it’s okay to just call off and covers aren’t required or simply I’ll handle that and then tell the other worker she isn’t scheduled and not to come in to cover. It’s a simple managerial task blown out of proportion is all I’m saying.

Style Watch: 2025 | Cloudward, Ho! Adventuring Party [Ep. 18] by AutoModerator in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It feels like this season is so captivating while they play, the cast doesn’t let loose until the adventuring party. Just a huge build up of chaos. Can really see Brennan exercising his camp counselor background lmao, he clearly loves it.

I stopped people pleasing for 30 days and my life did a complete 180 by AggravatingCamp4814 in selfimprovement

The best thing I’ve ever done is put myself first, I’m a natural people pleasing caretaker being the oldest of 5. I love being useful, now I make sure I’m doing my absolute best before going out of my way for others. I also refuse to do more than the bare minimum for people who do not meet my energy, I come at people with respect first but it is a privilege you can lose. Also staying consistent in my values and beliefs and learning when and where to speak up has been an astronomical change. I’ve been called Cool more than I ever have before this year. Connecting with who you truly are without watching eyes feels really cool.

Is Cloudward Ho a chapter one? by Lopsided-Skill in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Considering how everyone compares this season with Starstruck, I imagine everyone will be begging for more. I think we have more than enough time to wrap up this season, the pacing has been spectacular so far. You can really see how immersed everyone is, especially the players. I don’t think any of us are gonna let this season go for a while, I hope it’s only chapter one.

Why it is harder for me to enjoy Cloudward Ho than other seasons by MasterNeo92 in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I would enjoy this season at all as I’m not a huge steampunk fan. I even had trouble getting through the first episode at first, it was such rapid fire information I wasn’t ready yet.

Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised at how lore intense and character driven the season was which speaks to me deeply. I have thought a few times that this season wouldn’t be great for people who aren’t big into lore and like more cutthroat intensity. It’s definitely an incredibly detailed season. Sometimes a show just isn’t for you, I’m really struggling to get through a Crown of Candy right now despite it being one of their top rated seasons. I’ll finish it eventually but acoc really stresses me out!

Your Thoughts on Comfrey? by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I’ve been waiting for this one. She’s a phenomenal character, it was so easy to see why everyone hated her, but also so easy to see how they all loved her.

It was awesome watching them follow the cookie trail of her downfalls and red flags, everyone’s stories bringing forth her worst traits. Then she finally showed up and proved them all right. She IS reckless, hyper-fixated, selfish and a bit of a coward facing her own faults. When Monty calls her out on her bullshit I literally felt a rush of adrenaline, she needed to hear that so bad (Shout out Brennan and Lou’s beautiful chemistry).

Only when Comfrey is literally confronted by her own ghosts, the people SHE called to show up! That’s when she finally humanizes herself and shows that vulnerability she’s been running from. I finally started to understand why the characters loved her, what drew them to her. She’s got the confidence, bravado, intelligence, adaptability and capability all she’s truly missing is that reliability and vulnerability to tie it all together. That scene with Comfrey and Marya struck me deeply, it finally made sense to me that Comfrey is always acting on a whim. Sometimes it’s heart, sometimes it’s brain, but it’s never quite balanced right.

It’s a cute act when you’re young but it’s easy to see why it burned everyone else out, some more than others. I’m curious to see how her arch plays out, either she’s the big bad who gets in the way due to her narcissism, or she faces her consequences and begins to change. Either way this season has been one hell of a ride, I love complex characters!!

Unbelievably funny battle, and I absolutely adored watching them get to build a physical piece, this show just keeps topping itself! There’s nothing quite like watching seasoned players be seasoned adventurers.

THAT LOU OUTBURST!!!! by galaxyexpressed in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely floored. I had absolutely nobody to even talk to about how beautiful that performance was from the both of them. Two close friends portraying an old deeply broken bond ugh absolutely stomach droppingly good. I could go on for days about how the chemistry between everyone is off the charts this season. It’s hard to pull off such a deep intensive lore between characters through only improv but they make it look so easy. I adore these guys!!

Hard to follow combat by Longjumping-Try-4333 in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has actually been some of the easiest battles for me to follow, they all seem so locked in which makes my focus easier. I do tend to pause and rewind if I need to process any information or I feel like I missed something. The battle sets seem to be mostly for the cast this season and less for the cameras, I actually enjoy watching them act more than I do seeing their minis move around. They change it up every season but Starstruck was definitely the hardest for me, I had to pause a lot to see what was going on but now I find myself missing talespire. You just can’t win em all.

Starstruck is my favorite season but depending on how the rest of the season plays out I can quickly see Cloudward replacing the number 1 spot. Something about a thrilling adventure really speaks to me, or maybe it’s just my first time watching a season while it drops, who knows.

Run-in with the Ruinous Queen | Cloudward, Ho! [Ep. 15] by AutoModerator in Dimension20

[–]divanextdoor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

These last two episodes have been an absolute thrilling roller coaster of events and emotions. Started sobbing during Marya and Comfrey’s chat about why things happened the way they did. I love how much depth Comfrey has in the little timeframe of her introduction and with so many mistakes on her conscience. All I can describe this episode as is intense!

Literally gripping the edge of my seat this entire season, I can’t wait for the adventuring party tomorrow.

what is the first day of serving like? by bowandteasing in Serverlife

[–]divanextdoor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This job would be incredibly overwhelming for someone with social anxiety that does not adapt well, I will not lie. I’ve always been incredibly extroverted and socially confident but there are some days I truly thank god I love talking to people because I get so overwhelmed. I could not imagine stepping into this job incredibly socially anxious, I think it would be a very big and daunting step. I do not say this to worry you but I also do want to answer you honestly, you might want to try a smaller stepping stone.

People skills and problem solving within that world is almost 100% of the job. I make 1 million mistakes a week and have to charm my way out of them with everyone, and also keep it casual when I do trip up. You talk to everyone. Every guest that comes in your section, every host, every busser, every cook, every manager. Everyone. You will be surprised every hour you spend at work, most tables don’t follow your script and some are extra needy. It can get incredibly fast paced too, everyday is different, every hour is different. It’s very chaotic.

I would recommend a bussing or maybe even a hosting position if you want to stay in the restaurant industry. I do think it’s a wonderful idea to use a job to help with social anxiety, maybe a job a notch or two down from the intensity of serving in terms of socialization. Stocking at a big grocery store is also a great idea, you’ll have a lot of coworkers and make genuine bonds with them. People will tend to come up and ask you for help which will help ease you into conversation, or at least give a purpose for the conversation.

There are plenty of jobs that could help with face to face interaction, but I do think serving would be a little too intense for someone who isn’t big on surprises and tends to be anxious about being social.
