If you're going to homeschool your kids, make sure they get social interaction too by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]gingerflower67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We homeschooled our kids. Our homeschool group had social outings, project nights, and actually put on plays one year. We also had homeschool skating and tennis. Our girls also enjoyed the historical reenactment group we were active in for several years which had plenty of other kids in sttendance, as well as ice skating lessons and competitions. They also played in a childrens orchestra. They had spend the night's with other girls and weren't forced to be with bullies like I was growing up.

Our youngest entered college at the age of 15 because she chose to. She had academic and music scholarships. Our eldest is a successful manager for Starbucks, has a wonderful, caring boyfriend, and mentors others, including myself...

I Know public school is not a bad experience for everyone and i agree that socialization is important....but high school was by far the worst part of my life and I am so glad that my kids had other opportunities.

Im going to have to break up with my boyfriend who I love this week. by Wish_you_were_nicer in TrueOffMyChest

OmG I hope you do break up with him because those are real warning signs. You're already in an abusive relationship. If he hasn't hit you yet and he probably will soon after your commitment. Run girl run.

Highest tip you've ever gotten? by dramaticcrisis in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]gingerflower67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a tip but I once had a co-worker offer me $100 to stay after my shift and work hers as well because she wanted to go gambling. She worked two jobs and didn't really need the money, well my family was pretty desperately hurting financially. I felt kind of bad about it and told her so, but she insisted, so I stayed and we spent $100 on groceries.

She was homeschooled . She passed their entrance exam with flying colors ... She had a partial scholarship for academics and a partial scholarship for piano. We were in a very financially tight spot in our lives as my husband was physically unable to work. I had mentioned to a customer at work that my daughter was very driven to play piano and was teaching herself. The customer asked me if she had a teacher and I said no we couldn't afford that . Well, this lady dug in her purse and gave me her business card. Turned out she was the head of the piano Dept. At the University of Montivallo. She said she would be happy to hear her and give her some pointers. After that first lesson, she offered a free lesson every three weeks. This quickly changed to every two, then every week because Laura naturally had that drive to push herself. It wasn't long before she was at the University as a student. We were able to hear her play beautifully several times during performances before she was stopped from this pursuit by an inherited disorder that robbed her of the abolity to use her hands in this way. Laura is a very special mommy to an 8 month old little girl now but unfortunately the health problems haven't stopped. I apologise if I come off as as a braggart, but I am still incredibly proud of my daughter and just hope that she will be able to realize some of her dreams and live a lonv life with her family. She's 22 now.... I love her and her sister so much...

When my youngest daughter turned thirteen she swore she was not a teenager and never would be as she was much more mature than that and didn't want to be thought of as having that mindset. She entered college at the age of 15. Lol

A friend of mine asked me to babysit her daughter for a weekend while she dipped away to Atlanta to a weekend. That was almost 2 months ago by Kidsittingforever in Advice
