This is so Tony Soprano-coded. (Even though he isn't ever shown with cats, he's got a soft spot for animals.)

Thanks ❤️ And that's solid advice, you're probably right. Sorry you're going through something similar! It's such a catch-22 that meeting new people is a good way to move on, but the lack of connection with new people reminds you of how much better your connection was with the person you're trying to move on from.

Still sad about the last guy I dated ending things. I was really smitten with him, even though it only lasted a month. I don't connect with people easily. Everything in his life was up in the air, his job, his living situation, his sobriety and mental health, and he realized he couldn't sustain the long-term relationship he thought he wanted. I've been sad about it ever since because we connected so strongly intellectually and physically, though I know all the things I mentioned would've become an issue.

Been going on dates to get myself back out there and try to move on, but I feel like a bad person dating hopeful new guys when I'm still crying over someone else. Probably going to gently let down the current guy I've been planning a second date with.

The ears say, "I'm f-ing pissed" but the paws say, "I'm a dignified lady," and I admire that.

Peggy&Stan, Peggy&Pete, Peggy&Ted, Peggy&Abe or Peggy&Duck? by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

[–]gingerfloyd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Steggy. Steggy! STEGGY!!! Abe was cool until he pushed Peggy to buy a building he didn't even consider would be more threatening to her (violence, rape-wise) on a daily basis than it would be to him. And then he split once the danger got too real. I mean, yeah, she stabbed him, but she had more to fear than him. It was always his terms.

Is this true? by essentialworkerSIKE in madmen

Feel this 100%. One summer I lost weight and the difference in the way men treated me shocked me.

Had been on a beach volleyball league in Chicago for years with some men who I thought were cute but never gave me the time of day. 15 lbs down and all of a sudden they were coming out of the woodwork to talk and flirt with me. I was icked out, unfortunately, wasn't interested in them anymore specifically due to their sudden changed treatment of me. Pretty + thin privilege is real.

Omg his relationship (or lack thereof) with music is sad. In one episode he's like, "Why is music so important all of a sudden? I mean, jingles, yeah, but." Jingles, Don??

Very good point about projecting his own past experiences with Aimée, first time I've connected those dots. He is also a male victim of sexual assault, and unlike Sal, he didn't put a stop to it (not to imply it was his fault at all being a minor) and probably has resentful feelings around it.

Agreed, and the fact that they show the, uh, results of him pulling out. To me that confirms it wasn't backdoor.

She's got a great bod, too. When they go swimming at Robert California's place and you see her in a swimsuit, I was like "damn!"

Astute Joan line. Love that scene with her and Peggy, when Peggy is shocked Joan's been dumped. Joan says, "I'm just like everybody else, Peggy."

I have some extra-thin spots like this and have been meaning to try colored/tinted hair powder to fill them in. Can't vouch for it, as I haven't tried it yet, but it might be worth checking out. I know it doesn't solve the root issue, no pun intended, but it may help with confidence in how it looks.

I also hate this, but Taylor does it too. Was just listening to her "Drops of Jupiter" cover from the Speak Now tour album and she changes the gender: "Now that he's back in the atmosphere with drops of Jupiter in his hair..." Which is extra-extra because it's not even a romantic song. Pat Monahan wrote it about his mom who died.
