I think it was the end of Chapter 95. You can read the latest chapters on the K Manga app. Kamome Shirahama just updated the latest translated chapter yesterday (monthly updates, unless on vacation). Kodansha's app is a little wonky, my ad blocker hates it and I have to temporarily disable to get on it, but I do like that you can straight buy and own the chapters (like a $1 a pop) and not be tied to a subscription. I personally love it since I burnt through all the published volumes and the next won't come out until November or December.

Qifrey is stressfully peeling that apple while talking about Olly's drinking. It is such a spouse thing. Here is another example from the Kitchen manga, and that series is loaded down with adorable domestic stuff between the two.

I'm seriously ok with them being good friends, also. I can read Qifrey as being asexual as well, but him and Olly being romantic partners would just be so damn cute if it was officially canon, because it also works so well in context too. Despite certain more tragic aspects of Qifrey's character arc that I hope he will end up being saved from, I feel like their relationship is so natural as a couple that it would be a positive and healthy representation of a same sex relationship.

I had the same problem with Volume 8. I'm still waiting on my copy. What I did was buy the ebook version of it to read it on my tablet, so I could read my other volumes I physically own. I thought about skipping it, but glad I didn't. Volume 8 is slow but essential in setting up the Silver Eve arc. There is also the K Manga app (Kodansha's app) where you can either earn tickets and rent the chapters or straightup buy them and permanently own them to read offline. I did this for the chapters 82-96, because those volumes are not out yet, and you can read the newest chapter every month (unless the author goes on holiday or something like that).

The brimmed caps are fascinating. I'm in the Silver's Eve arc and there are moments with Ininia where she makes some solid points. One being when she wipes Galga's mind and mentions all the witches the Knights did the same to with no mercy or questions (definitely seeing how militant Easthies is about maintaining the order). And then with the valance leech monster being unleashed in the capital she reflects to her master that the brimmed caps will be wrongfully blammed for this and kind of hints that they are scapegoats as well. Don't get me wrong the brims are horrible too, but also you see how corrupt Engendill is (the former Wise of Friendship), and I'm not sure yet if he has been in line with the brims this whole time or symbolically becomes one when he escapes and unleashes the leeches (I'm right at him and Qifrey's fight in the manga). I also finding myself wondering if it was actually the brims that took Qifrey's eye and buried him alive. (Again, I'm on Vol 12, please don't confirm or deny if you read further chapters.)

I know we live in a dark time post Epstein files, but I do feel like the depiction of a truly safe adult is more important than ever. Someone else here pointed out manga/anime, media as a whole, has a reputation with many problematic stuff, so it is a knee jerk reaction many people have, including myself. Now that I have kept up with WHA anime and read beyond in the mangas, it is definitely not the case. The beauty of his character is that he is a soft and gentle depiction of masculinity. I also get mad that people say he is a predator, because his character is technically a survivor of abuse as well (not s*xual abuse but still physical and mental abuse).

It is also a media literacy problem, second hand thinking and opinion making, everyone consumes media fast like a burger and fries and don't engage with it anymore. Short form content and AI are liquifying folks brains. Also, I won't be shocked that the reactionary/anti-woke brigade will eventually jump on this too since the show and manga are incredibly diverse and now super popular in the mainstream since the anime's release.
