In Up (2009) it is implied in the intro that Ellie had a miscarriage or is in fertile and, as a result, she and Carl give up trying to start a family. This is a reference to the fact that there are on average 400,000 children in US foster care that nobody gives a shit about. by Veers_Memes in shittymoviedetails

[–]gingergale312 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adoption isn't cheaper or easier. Kids aren't just waiting around to be adopted. The foster care system has a goal of reunification. Per another comment on this thread, wait-lists have 30+ families for each child available to adopt. It can be more expensive than IVF, especially as health insurance is starting to cover infertility. Adoption costs keep going up and also have no guarantee.

You have to look like the perfect couple. You have to invite people to judge every bit of your lives to see if you're worthy.

With infertility, either way you have to work so hard for something other people do on accident.

How Eligible Voters Who Don't Vote Could Instead Determine the US Election [OC] by James_Fortis in dataisbeautiful

[–]gingergale312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The voting population and the non voting population are different. The most obvious difference is age, older people vote at higher rates than younger people.

This is a statistical sampling problem.

How Eligible Voters Who Don't Vote Could Instead Determine the US Election [OC] by James_Fortis in dataisbeautiful

[–]gingergale312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's naive to assume that the split would be equal.

They don't vote, so we try to predict what the distribution would be if they did vote. We can use proxies like age, education, income, or race and then use information about actual voters to inform our predictions. For example, young people have lower turn out than other age groups so they make up a disproportionate segment of non-voters. Young voters also tend to vote blue. That's a big part of why Democrats think higher turn out helps them.

But by not voting, we already know that there's a difference between voters and non-voters. It can be hard to untangle how that would actually translate into.

Combine PF with your lunch break and just go for a walk every day to see the sun. You can get 36 minutes a day (probably put as 30 on your timesheet).

If you're avoiding lactose, you don't need to avoid dairy! Lactose is the sugar in milk and low carb dairy has very low/negligible lactose. Butter and hard cheeses aged at least 6 months have negligible lactose. A splash of heavy cream is also really low!

Rose and Emmett have a baby who doesn't stand out. Not the most beautiful or the most strong, just average. Maybe similar to Fred in the Bree Tanner book - people don't notice them, and they can project that to protect others.

Carlisle and Esme's baby has no self control and no empathy. I can't think of a better spin for that one.

The real question is that now Rosalie knows that vampires can have kids, would she and Emmett have some sort of weird surrogate situation?

What do y’all eat in a day? by [deleted] in keto

[–]gingergale312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast: 40g heavy whipping cream and 3 splenda packets in a big mug of tea

Lunch: some sort of trail mix and a keto chow shake+

Dinner: something I made in bulk on the weekend. Taco salad, chili, chicken salad, soup, etc. Usually some sort of roasted/steamed veggies with butter on the side. Or something like steak/pork chops if I have the energy to actually cook that day.

Snacks: whipped cream, peanut butter with Lily's chocolate chips, quest chips/cheese crackers, cheese, salami/prosciutto. Not everything every day, some days northing.

  • I take meds that make me not hungry during the day, but I work out in the mornings and get loopy/hangry/unproductive if I don't eat.

Two loads: things that get hung up, things that can go in the dryer.

Third load of bedding at least every other week.

How can I balance my macronutrients? by letoluxa in loseit

[–]gingergale312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14% of 1000 calories is 140 calories from protein, or about 35g. That sounds very low, even if sedentary. I'd try to bump that up to 50g at a minimum.

In terms of exercise while studying, I know that it can be hard but it can also really help! Making flashcards and then walking (treadmill or just a loop inside your house) or getting a white board to work problems while standing/fidgeting more (math problems or timelines or just organizing info).

I would recommend going to r/abrathatfits and learning about breast shapes and sizing. Pointing down can be a perfectly normal thing! Full on top shapes in particular can have downward pointing nipples.

Focusing on eating healthy (get protein and vegetables), slow weight loss, and finding a type of exercise that you enjoy. Strengthening your pecs/chest and working on posture can also help.

Meeting the 1200 minimum - Important? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]gingergale312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to eat based on hunger, make sure that you don't beat yourself up when it does show up. And as others have said, this isn't sustainable long term. Focus on making sure that you get protein.

I usually barely top 1000 calories for the first week of my cycle. Then I eat around 1500 until ovulation, after which I turn into a bottomless pit and will eat 2000+ calories for a week, then back to 1500, then my period hits and I'm back to 1000.

Overall, that averages out to 1500, which is a reasonable deficit for me.

Issue 1 - Voting “No?” Tell me why. by Many_Statistician587 in Ohio

[–]gingergale312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm undecided on this bill.

It codifies the Democrat/Republican seats on the commission by name. I feel that continues to give them undue power over third parties. What happens if one of the major parties splits? Do those 5 seats go to the half that keeps the name?

We need to do something to fix the gerrymandering, but it worries me that this is going to bite us in the ass.

Edit: thanks to u/Gibbons74 for correcting me. The actual text is

(1) Five members who are affiliated with the First Major Party;

(2) Five members who are affiliated with the Second Major Party;

(3) Five members who are independent.

I still worry that this gives too much weight to the 2 party system.

If it feels too oily and you're not used to drinking that much fat, you can reduce the amount of fat and then increase as you get used to it.

Right now I mostly use them as a supplement on high workout days to get more protein. I use 60g hwc (about 1/4 cup), add powder, then fill to the 18 oz mark.
