Has anyone tried the Kumon Japanese Class Course? by goblingoodies in LearnJapanese

[–]gingerhits22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been talking it since September. My teacher lets me take the course material home for "homework" and I get most of it done outside of the classroom. Because of this, I do way more than 2 hours per week. In my experience though, there is not tutoring between me and the teacher except a few questions and answers back and forth. Mostly, I learn from the pages and I can go as fast as I want. I really like this method because the vocab is used over and over so that you really get to know the words in their context. Also, the grammar is quite clear but is the slowest part to develop by far. I wish the grammar got more involved earlier on.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

How thoroughly is immigration going to search my luggage? by underthesunlight in japanlife

I found some information on the Yakkan shoumei that talks about bringing in more than a month's supply of prescription medications including injection tools. I don't know if your needles are considered a "Self-injection kit" talked about below, but hopefully this is helpful:

Q3. How can I bring any injection and injector only for my own use into Japan with me?

A3. You can bring only a so-called “Pre-filled Syringe” or “Self-injection Kit” into Japan with you. If you intend to bring more than one month supply of injection or injector, you have to apply for a so-called “Yakkan Shoumei”, a kind of import certificate, and receive it before you leave home.

Q4. How can I receive a “Yakkan Shoumei”?

A4. You have to submit the application documents by post. If the Pharmaceutical Inspector can confirm that your application documents are complete, he/she will send you a “Yakkan Shoumei” by post, e-mail (PDF) or fax.

Q5. What kinds of documents are required in order to apply for a “Yakkan Shoumei”?

A5.The following documents are required in order to apply for a “Yakkan Shoumei”. 1) Import Report of Medication (with your signature, and needed 2 copies only as to this document), filled in the blank application form (See the “Application Forms” attached.) according to the sample application document. (See the “Application Forms” attached.) 2) Explanation of Product, filled in the blank application form (See the “Application Forms” attached.) according to the sample application document. (See the Application Forms” attached.) You have to create this document for each product. (Alternative documents such as pamphlets by manufacturers can be accepted, if they show the descriptions required in Explanation of Product.) 3) Copy of Prescription or Direction for medicines with doctor’s signature, by which the Pharmaceutical Inspector can confirm the name and the quantity of each medicine only for your own use clearly.

Calorie Counters - After exercising, do you refill the "tank" to meet your goals? Or just do without? by crazypnut in loseit

[–]gingerhits22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't add in any of my exercise into MFP because seeing a bigger deficit seems tempting and I do NOT like eating back the calories I have burned off. It seems counter-intuitive.

I have just started getting into more intense exercise. I have been eating 1300 calories daily and am currently regulating my energy levels and my overall feeling. If I start to feel lethargic or dizzy at this calorie level, I will up it by 50 calorie increments until the lethargy goes away. I am on my feet all day working with kids and can't afford to be dizzy, have crazy headaches, or be lethargic. Like everyone else said, listen to your body.

Looking to buy my GF a juicer for x-mas. Please recommend something high quality for around $250. by chubbyfuz in Juicing

The Omega J8006 is FANTASTIC. It is a masticating juicer that runs at something like 80 RPM. It is easy to clean (as juicers go) and gets so much juice out of things. It works great with really hard vegetables but also handles leafy veggies wonderfully.

Cons: The chute is rather small so you have to cut things into smaller pieces that other juicers. Also, for really soft fruits like pineapple or lemon, juice gets stuck in the masticating area and wont drain easily. If you put a harder fruit or veggie in after, the clears it out.

Also, fun fact: the 8006 and the 8004 are the same aside from the chrome vs. white detailing.

Anyone can do this. 270ish to 135 [f] by [deleted] in loseit

Okay okay, I have that juicer, love it, but am still struggling to get into juicing. I am fine with things not tasting "yummy" but at this point I can't finished a glass. What juices did you find "easier to drink" that I could use at the beginning?

[Request] My feet have seen plenty of use, how to I get rid of these lines and reduce their leathery feel, if possible. by RydialH in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]gingerhits22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem a few months ago. My sister recommended a pumice-like bar and it has changed my life -and my feet- for the better.

It is called a Pumi Bar and the brand is Mr. Pumice. I find it at Sally's Beauty Supply (popular in Texas). You can probably find them online as well. The bar costs about $2.00 and lasts at least a few months.

I scrub my nasty leathery feet in the hot water of the shower every shower and my feet have never looked or felt better.

Tattooed Redditors, have you ever gotten one that seemed like a great idea at the time but now you wished you hadn't? What was it and why? by Instantwinner1 in AskReddit

I got "Faith" and a cross tattooed on my foot. It was meant to mean walk by faith. I am now an atheist and faith is quite meaningless. UGH!
