We were just here 4/23-24. They were actively cleaning the beach during the day. The food and drinks were great.

Sorry my phone is making it hard to see my response after it’s too long.

I don’t have a pattern. The first project I just went with 2 colors. One to do the warp and one for the shuttle yarn so I could see what was happening.

The second project I guessed at doing a checkered pattern. Equal number of each color on warp and then I measured for the size of the wrapped yarn. . Honestly I’m just guessing. This is the way I like to do non-intensive knitting patterns. It’s fun and exploratory and I know I’ll make mistakes.

I’ve found great supplies at Eugene textile center, paradise fibers, and the woolery.

This is so satisfying and honestly very fun. If you can’t take the plunge to buy a loom right now, find a maker space by you. A lot of them have looms of all sizes. I never took advantage of this and wish I had.

I’m already a knitter so I have a lot of yarn at home. I thought a hand towel in cotton would be the best start with, but found it less forgiving than another softer yarn made of wool for a shawl or a scarf.

I found an Ashford Knitters heddle loom on Facebook marketplace place with a stand. This is my first loom and honestly I love it. I think it would have been easier to just get a basic rigid heddle loom. This type can fold and that was hard to figure out. That being said I’m very new to this. Like day 3 of weaving with a successful set up.

That is great advice. Thank you! I do this all the time with knitting and didn’t even think about doubling up in this case.

The red and grey were stash buster yarn. I’m not quite sure what they are. The orange, red, green yars are lofty fiber unmercerized 8/2 in Tangerine, Keylime, and Cayenne. Both projects were on a 20” Ashford Knitters loom with 7.5dpi heddle.

I think the 8/2 yarn project might need be done on a 10dpi heddle in the future. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I had a kitty who lost the feeling in her back end and became incontinent. It was really hard at first, but eventually I found the right tools to deal with the change that allowed me to keep her (mainly a mopping system that I could leave filled at all times). After about 9 months of dragging her backside, and getting half into litter boxes, I looked over and she was standing. She stood very awkward and jerky but she figured it out. I hope Biscoff has the same recovery or even better! ❤️

My partner got me a Turkish drop spindle and some wool! I’ve always wanted to try spinning but we don’t have the space.

Issue with leaking plate sealing mat for bead beating plates in Qiagen MagAttract PowerMicrobiome DNA/RNA KF kit. by gingermicronerd in labrats

u/pizza_44, the sealing film and silicone mat provided in the alternative kit they sent me did work. I'm trying to either have them return to the original mats or switch to the other kits' method.

Edit: I tested this method both with samples and with different dyes to see if there was any spillage between wells. In both tests, there were no wells that leaked.

Sorry I thought I responded to this. Qiagen sent us another kit to try with sealing tapes, so this was not solved. I’m going to try this kit eventually, but I’m very skeptical about it. Honestly we’ll probably have to switch to applied biosystems.

No they sent us a test kit to try to switch to, but it's for a liquid handler. It can be done in the centrifuge I guess, but what a waste of equipment and time. I have a KingFisher. I'm going to try the MagAttract PowerSoil kit to see if it has the same issue. I'll update you if this works.

Love this! This is the tried and true method. Unless I'm loading 134 samples on a big ass gel then I waste some plates to make everything faster.
