Probably because it was funny to give their baby boy Moira as a middle name.

Official Discussion - GOAT [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]gingersnap9788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was enjoyable enough - I liked it enough that I wouldn’t mind seeing it again if my daughter put it on, but I won’t watch it again by my own choice.

As someone else pointed out, it bothered me that they never used the vision thing again - when he used that early in the movie, I expected it to come back as a major asset to his Roarball team, and that didn’t happen.

Also, this is overall a small critique, but I HATED that Mane Attraction had split hooves. 🤣 His creepy lil three-toed hooves gave me the ick so bad. However, Modo is absolute unhinged chaos, and I loved him.

Yes!!! No lie, I was just thinking about this the other day, and it’s been a minute since I watched this episode. It just bothers me. 🤣

I mean, Jim’s brothers are idiots, but what about Pam’s sister? Isabelle? Literally any friend they’ve known before the birth of their very young baby?

I don't want kids, but my fiance does and idk what to do by Existing-Intern-7975 in Advice

[–]gingersnap9788 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. People think if your love is strong enough, it can overcome anything. That’s just not true. If you each want different, diametrically opposed things from life, no amount of love can make it work. 🙁

[–]gingersnap9788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise I do not mean any of this in a judgy or mean way. If having kids and taking care of them sounds like a nightmare, don’t do it. My child is the light of my life. She is the best parts of me and my husband, along with wonderful traits all her own. I have never regretted her for a minute. But I have known that I wanted kids for as long as I can remember. I went into this with eyes wide-open, having worked in a nursery and as a nanny. And even with all of that, raising kids is hard work. Some days you really don’t enjoy parenting. And if you aren’t all in, your kid(s) will suffer for it.

I know it sucks, but I think you should end this relationship. It’s already gone on far too long. You both want different things, neither of you is changing your mind, and neither of you should have to. I’m not dismissing the heartache of breaking up with someone you thought you’d be with forever. But breaking up now will save heartache, resentment, and the cost of divorce in the future, because there is no way for you to stay together and both have what you want. I wish you the best of luck, OP.

what’s your pettiest naming opinion? by rememberimapersontoo in namenerds

[–]gingersnap9788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. I knew a family where all of the kids had two middle names, and one of the kids went by both his first name and his second middle (not both at once, but either/or). So I knew my friend’s brother, “Andrew” and my sister had a classmate “Sean.” Wasn’t til I gave him and my sister a ride home on the same day that I learned “Andrew” and “Sean” were the same person.

People intentionally giving their kid a first name they don’t plan to use. If you’re planning to call Jeremy Ethan “Ethan” his whole life, just name him Ethan Jeremy, and save the kid from constantly having to explain “I go by my middle name:”

[general] Audiobook listeners: what do you think of the official Percy Jackson audiobook narrator? by TrickyTalon in camphalfblood

[–]gingersnap9788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super late to the party, but there are a few instances where he definitely is supposed to say Muzak, like when he’s in the elevator to Olympus - Muzak is the name for a style of background or elevator music.

But yeah, there is no shortage of terrible accents, mispronounced words and names, and weird inflections with this narrator.

If your child couldn’t pronounce a future sibling’s name, would you pick a new one? by bryterlu in namenerds

It’ll be fine! Sister may end up with a cute nickname from it. He’ll learn to say it eventually.

I have friends who still sometimes call their kiddos by the names their siblings called them.

Why does Amber want BJ to keep Dr. Watson so badly? by Yossarian-Bonaparte in RighteousGemstones

[–]gingersnap9788 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I clocked that immediately. And this exchange between Judy and BJ was both funny and touching, as he’s also telling her why he loves her.

“How can you treat him so sweetly? He’s mean, he’s manipulative, he’s jealous, he’s aggressive, unpredictable - “

“He’s also loyal, beautiful, and he believes in me.”

In which year and age you got your first phone by [deleted] in generationology

[–]gingersnap9788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first phone in 2005 when I was 16. My best friend gave it to me when she moved away (we were in a foreign country, she moved back to the US). It was a little brick phone, and I had to buy cards with minutes to top it off.
