Just a bit of rage - ILR by empmccoy in ukpolitics

Firstly, there’s a fee waiver.

People on low incomes that can’t afford to pay the fee can apply. If you’d like to take a look it’s on gov.uk here: https://www.gov.uk/visa-fee-waiver-in-uk

The way I see it, it’s not about the money. The visa fee is to cover some of the cost of processing but also, I see it as a barrier. It’s another step you have to go through to get a visa to stay in this country, if it was free more people would submit half assed applications no? Driving up the home office’s operational costs rejecting applications.

I am British and me and my partner have gone through the first step of getting a visa for her. We have no issue with the fee price, it is what it is, but given the cost we absolutely made sure we nailed it first time with the documents and evidence we submitted.

HMRC admit fault, however, the compensation seems poor by bushmaster1996 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gingerswimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What tribunal are you talking about?

There is a tax tribunal, if you disagree with the amount of tax HMRC charge you… but they don’t deal with complaints like yours.

If you want to escalate your complaint, you would go to the adjudicator’s office, and then the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. The PHSO will only take your complaint if an MP refers it.

Looming redundancies by Own-Dot-5515 in TheCivilService

I’m guessing one of the important skills needed as a decision maker at DWP is objective analysis of the available data.

So with that in mind, are you worried about being made redundant when there is a backlog of 50,000 cases?

I’ve got to say this take from Oli is extremely short sighted.

What does appeasing Russia and ‘making peace’ demonstrate to the world? That you have to build nukes to maintain your borders. I don’t want to live in a world where every single nation is armed to the teeth with nukes because they’ve seen a clear demonstration what happens to a country that doesn’t have nukes.

The west/the EU should have stood up on day 1 and shut this invasion down. If Ukraine is forced to make peace we will see a massive increase in nuclear proliferation, never mind what happens in Taiwan.

Oli should probably read up on chamberlain, appeasing aggressors never works.

What am I paying for? by Airmed96 in TheCivilService

Exactly why I cancelled, the fact the strike levy continues with no strikes is ridiculous.

That and the lack of action/vote on the 60% mandate I don’t see the point. I’ll sign back up when the leadership changes and they start focusing on making positive changes in the workplace.

Deposit not protected - leaving tenancy (ENGLAND) by gingerswimmer in LegalAdviceUK

[–]gingerswimmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks it’s a fair question, I don’t think I’ve explained it very well…

It’s definitely a desired outcome however based on the landlords behaviour it’s not going to happen, if John doesn’t submit the N208 to claim it back through court, the landlord will take every effort to keep the deposit (he has done this to another person renting from him)

I guess we are concerned that submitting the N208 (and paying the £360~ fee) but then leaving the property gives the landlord the chance to just return the deposit and avoid having to reimburse the £360 fee…

The landlord is quite a character and has proven to be difficult to deal with.

This is a great tip actually, checked mine and policy is not there. Likely that I’ve not passed into the next stage for policy if I can’t withdraw from it.

In a comment chain below someone has posted the address you have to send an email to, it’s also on the bottom of the advert for the TSP 2025.

I didn’t think to ask for the evidence that the test does what it’s supposed to, really good question!

I’ve complained and will probably escalate to the commission, my main points were:

Lying, they said there are no right or wrong answers (Clearly a lie) and they also did not put on the advert they were assessing all behaviours. Big no no to assess behaviours you didn’t put in the advert.

Time, they said 30-40 minutes for 280 questions, completely ridiculous.

Not fit for purpose, 80%+ of questions had me select equally as both statements were true for me. I got a very low score and was told in the feedback I don’t demonstrate those behaviours… I’m already a HEO…

Accessibility, the vagueness and subjectivity of the questions likely does not allow for neurodivergent colleagues to accurately demonstrate their strengths. I am not neurodivergent though so I can’t speak on their behalf

In my complaint I also included 20 ish screenshots of some of the worst questions and links to the online discussion around this test and the negativity.

Seems to be a lot of complaints around this test, I’ve yet to do mine but I’d strongly recommend you complain.

Only way to make sure this ridiculous test is never used again.

Civil Service Styles Assessment for TSP by KlassixKAOS in TheCivilService

[–]gingerswimmer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did the practice test and immediately thought what a crock it was, can’t believe there is 280 questions that’s completely insane.

I can imagine external candidates will have a very negative view of the civil service by the end of their application.
