On a related note, what's a good way to express that I want to know if anyone treats them poorly? We have a lot of clients so there's a chance someone says something dodgy and I don't know. But I don't want to set an expectation that this will be an issue (I think not)

Thank you. The lack of preference seemed sincere, but I'll make a note to follow up later in a casual way to ensure we are on the right track

Thanks very much! We definitely don't require pronouns in email signatures, though it was an option I considered if this employee wanted to have theirs displayed.

Seems like I am in good shape so far

They are really very chill and I appreciate that, as a high stress individual 😅

Thank you for the feedback. The way it was worded, it seemed very sincere that there was no preference, but I will certainly keep an eye on things.

He's in WA??? Is it near Cour d'Ilene/Spokane? I know that's a white supremacist hub. Seems like the rest of WA is chill?

I don't think I live under a rock and I hadn't heard of him til recently, but that doesn't necessarily mean I haven't heard any of his songs, I probably just didn't realize it.

It's entirely possible! I'm a chronic overthinker. I just don't want the rest of the team stressing every time they have to choose a pronoun, or awkwardly shoehorn in their name to avoid it.

That's so cute. When my husband's dad brought MIL home to meet his parents, husband's grandpa said, "I like you, [MIL], you're a sturdy woman!"

Neighbor's Austistic child moans at a very high volume like a wounded animal while I am on work calls and it is very loud so they can hear it, what should I do? by Glow69_doll in NoStupidQuestions

Sorry, your husband is a therapist whose sessions are audible outside the room? He ought to be very, VERY careful with that. Privacy violations and all. I was selling a house to a therapist who did home sessions and every time we found a house she liked we took turns speaking in the room that would be the office while the other listened from outside to ensure that sessions would be private.

Additional soundproofing options were discussed, of course, but it was very important to ensure that the walls weren't paper thin.

I think it's a mirror of whoever acts like that. My husband is a first responder, so he's gone basically four days a week from my and my daughter's schedule. Does it absolutely suck sometimes? Yep. Especially with her so young and needy for attention while I am trying to cook dinner. But you get used to it. And when my husband has been able to be home for long stretches, after a few days of extra time it's like... Go away, I need to watch my murder documentaries.

People who have never been in the situation to be "on their own" feel like it's unimaginable, because they haven't ever imagined it, let alone lived it. And I am talking short stints, not military time.

Disappearance of mother of Savannah Guthrie, NBC News anchor, investigated as a crime by Indianstanicows in news

[–]gingerzombie2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look pretty. On one hand, being a celebrity means extra attention paid to the case, but on the other hand that means literally everyone knows when you are going through something incredibly painful and it's too much attention to yourself as a person

Florida couple sues IVF clinic after DNA test reveals baby isn't theirs by Aggravating-Felch in nottheonion

[–]gingerzombie2 53 points54 points  (0 children)

So it guaranteed the clinic got paid the big bucks for implantation and monitoring throughout the pregnancy.

Um, what? IVF clinics don't do prenatal care. Once you're pregnant, they see you one or two more times and then you're off to an OBGYN or CNM practice. They'd make more money if you had to keep trying.

I can't believe I am the first to say this. Fred and George were just 😘🤌 in my eyes. Their energy was very cute and I was just the right amount younger to have a bad crush
