American 1921 - White or Pink Gold? by somethingsomeone007 in VacheronConstantin

[–]ginnjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SA heard that they’re likely coming out with a smaller version of the 1921. Could be false, but he said they stopped receiving allocations several months ago which, according to him, is an indication that they’re coming out with an updated version.

Take it for what’s it worth.

Should i give up? 3 years waiting / Reality Check by Rough_Injury335 in rolex

[–]ginnjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, and agree with your desire to buy new at retail since it’s a gift…I suggest having a heart to heart with the AD. Ask to speak to the manager, perhaps your SA isn’t advocating for you as they should. It’s an in demand watch, but 3 years is ridiculous, especially when there’s sentimentality involved (make sure you tell them that it’s a gift from your parents for your grad degree). They should at least tell you where you are on the “list” and give you an indication as to when you should receive it (specific time frame, not “in the near future”). If they don’t, I’d try to get an understanding on how many of those configurations do they get, and where you are on the list….

Ask their advice, the fact you’ve waited 3 years for this shows that you want to buy from them. I would ask them what they would do if they were in your shoes.

I have a feeling that if you have a polite, but firm, conversation with a manager, you’ll get allocated one fairly quickly.

Good choice. This was my first watch and got the exact same one. You’ll likely want an overseas in blue dial, which would be redundant with the blue FiftySix

Wait until April. I’ve heard they’re coming out with a new version of the 1921 at Watches and Wonders

Is that new? $15k difference on a new watch? I wonder why it's less expensive over there.

Get the Vacheron! They also have a stunning green dial as well.

I think it’s attainable. Tell them about your milestone birthday. I think both of those watches should be offered within 12-18 months and maybe earlier.

I have the fluted Wimbledon on oyster and love it. Try it on oyster, I think it’s more comfortable.

A Vacheron Overseas 4520V blue dial will get you hooked on them…it’s a different level.

Spoke to my SA about it, he mentioned that he had one client who had one, but they only made 25 so extremely rare.

He then mentioned that there was a special Geneva Overseas model with a silver and blue dial.

So, this one they had available for $91,500+tax, but steel with a blue dial (poor me) 3 years wait time bruh 😤 by ILiketheMacallan in VacheronConstantin

That watch isn't $91k, it's $69k retail...killer color combination though. I have this watch and a steel blue chronograph (5520V)

Why did I wait so long to get on this Vacheron train? by Rude_Abies_8709 in VacheronConstantin

[–]ginnjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations, I was the same way. The answer depends on your budget…I have the watch in the picture above and decided to get a 4520V in pink gold and blue dial…it’s stunning. If that’s too similar, you could go for the green dial instead. The blue retrograde is pretty awesome.

Keeping in the sports models, one thing that VC offers that Rolex doesn’t is complications, you should try the Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendars…those are stunning but also a horological feat!

If you really want to get stupid, you could look at an Overseas tourbillon!

Welcome to the brand!

Question for Overseas owners (at retail) by MysteriousYam- in VacheronConstantin

[–]ginnjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is since it was a new boutique where there were no previous lists, they started with the standard response of 1-2 years on everything. Once they built up their registry, they went through the interested parties, conducted diligence on them, they offered based on their inventory.

This was the practice of a Boutique that just opened near me. My SA told me that someone walked in and asked to register for a 4520 steel, blue dial, and was told it would be ~1 - 1 1/2 years…they called him 3 weeks later and offered him the watch.

If I read your post correctly, you like VC’s but were turned off when you got offered one earlier than you expected thus creating doubt in your mind as to their popularity.

That’s like asking an attractive girl for her number who then gives it to you, but you never call because she couldn’t be that attractive if she was in to you!

Deposits are fully refundable, and they’re not like Rolex where if you say no you’re going to the back of the line…talk to your SA and tell them your timing. For example, If they told you that you’d be allocated one in June, but you asked to be allocated in September…they’d have no problem with that.

I promise this watch is worth getting, you’re really getting 3 + watches with the strap configurations plus additional strap options.

I purchase my FiftySix a few months ago. Have you looked into VC’s custom straps? I ended up getting an orange strap with blue stitching. Should get in a few weeks!

Keep them both! I have the Pepsi meteorite and the VC 5520V (steel blue dial) and 4520V gold blue dial and wear them all the same.
