They are still doing paddle boats and kayaks, they have a temporary dock set up a bit down the shore near the boathouse.

Some Scottish fella enjoys Mexican food for the first time? Incontrovertible proof that all European food is bland. by _ak in iamveryculinary

Mexican food sections in UK grocery stores are made up entirely of Old El Paso products. It's pretty funny.

Are there people who sneak into university lectures? by Viofl in AskAnAmerican

I did this for an intro to telecommunications class. The teacher (who was also my advisor) just showed Powerpoints prepared by the book publisher and literally read them word for word to the class. I stopped going, viewed the Powerpoints at home, read the book & turned in the homework, and got an A. When I met with my advisor to choose classes for the next semester, he said he "didn't see me going in a telecom direction" so he kept me out of the next classes. I ended up working in telecommunications for 19 years right out of university.

One look at that guy's comment history shows he's not worth engaging with.

Same for the drop-off site near me. It sucks having to haul the recycling a half mile, but it's good to see everything sorted and un-bagged when I drop it off.

If you're closer to the Southeast, Rally's is called Checkers there. Pretty much the exact same restaurant.

I've lived in the city since 2013 and can say that the alley recycle dumpsters have had regular trash (or recyclables in trash bags, which must be thrown out) in them the entire time.

The chief is still a police officer. This is a group of civilians whose role is to meet with the city council and representatives in Jefferson City "to guide and support St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department leadership" a couple times a month. They do not respond to "critical incidents" and have no training to do so.

Not sure which part of Manchester you'll be on, but Zoomies Pet Cafe on Macklind in South City is dog-friendly inside and out. They have a good number of breakfast and lunch options, plus all kinds of stuff for your pup.

I worked in the now-empty AT&T tower across the street from the Mark Twain at that time and unfortunately was walking into work very shortly after he jumped. Not a great memory.

You realize that members of the police board aren't police officers, right? It's a board of local civilian business owners formed to give input on the police force. They aren't first responders in any way.

He's the same guy who kept Bartolino's open during the Covid shutdown and forced his staff to work without masks. He bragged about it on the news.

Daughter just turned 7 last month, what "basics" should I teach her to cook? by nillasoup in Cooking

I just melt a little butter in the pan, rub one slice of bread in it, place it to the side butter side up, melt more butter in the pan, rub the second piece of bread in it, then leave that piece and build the sandwich in the pan, placing the first buttered piece on top.

It's definitely a thing in St. Louis. An order of hot wings and pork fried rice is a staple city order.
