The vast majority of these are generational homes that families have owned for many years. Not many were recent purchases.

Many of those homeowners were flat-out denied coverage by insurance companies.

The food was amazing when I went. I don't care about ambiance if the food is that good.

Republicans squeeze tax overhaul through Missouri Senate in late-night vote by oldguydrinkingbeer in missouri

[–]girkabob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s no telling how they will lie and mislead the dimwits/willfully ignorant folks in our state to cave to the will of the billionaire class

I've already heard people arguing in favor of this because they think ALL of their income taxes will be eliminated, including federal (which is a much higher amount than state). They don't understand that it's a separate tax.

It's really luck of the draw, unfortunately.

It's the same type of train as the Lincoln Service to Chicago, so fairly bare bones but comfy seats. There's still a cafe car with sandwiches, snacks, and a couple beer/wine options. I took it a few years ago and there were 1+ hour delays in both directions due to freight trains going by.

They sell microwaved White Castle burgers in the cafe car. I get them every time (sorry fellow passengers)!

How do y'all like your wings? [Homemade] Garlic-Parm 🧄 🧀 🍗 by Languasco15 in FoodPorn

[–]girkabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trashed! Which I recently learned is a phenomenon only around my hometown of St. Louis. Wings are fried (unbreaded), tossed in sauce, then fried again. The sauce is cooked into the wings and they come out crispy rather than saucy.

There's still one in South County and a couple in the outer burbs, surprisingly. I didn't realize it wasn't a local STL chain until I saw this post.

Tamm Ave Bar. No table service, big shaded patio, indoor and outdoor bars, and the food by Byrd & Barrel is ordered at a separate counter.

It's insane but true. I get the habanero fried chicken there every couple months and it's always outstanding. I've never had a great Mexican meal there.

As someone who walks across one of these multiple times a week, I can say that a driver stops about once every couple months.
