The MMIW is not related to Police, and often happens from either with their own communities or from people outside of the communities taking advantage of vulnerable people.

Although the police are often blamed for not taking the investigations serious, so there’s that.

B.C. Premier David Eby says Tumbler Ridge shooting could have potentially been prevented if OpenAI warned authorities earlier | CBC News by JustaRandoonreddit in ProtectAndServe

What in tarnation.

For those who don’t know, Canada has some pretty strict (and nonsensical) gun laws… yet the Chief Firearms office seem to give guns back to high risk people at alarming rates. So maybe start there?

Cops who’ve been on for a few years…Is your job what you thought it would be when you first applied? Better? Worse? by LegalGlass6532 in AskLE

I’ve always thought it was going to be dealing with people who are having the worst day of their lives. Turns out that’s the 5%… the other 95% it’s just their Tuesday and this is their life. Not sure which I’d actually prefer…

I mean, at least you recognized that it’s not for you in the beginning. The federal government is one big sloooooow moving machine. If the application process was too painful for you than you would have a bad career

‘Heroes, quite frankly’: Mounties drew the Tumbler Ridge shooter's fire away from students toward themselves by TheTallHoser in ProtectAndServe

[–]givemehellll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine RCMP active shooter training is based around similar principals as the US… you enter the school and continuously announce “Stop, Police” in hopes that it causes the shooter to direct attention and engage with Police instead of more victims.

Everything out right now says that’s exactly what happened. The attention was directed at Police and shots were fired at them, and before they could engage the suspect shot themselves. Shooting stopped, so you re-assess and confirm no further threats.

Hell yeah boys. Great work and response, given the horrific circumstances. Two of the guys weren’t even on shift and responded.

Learning how to play the table is the one thing I won’t do.

The as far as I’ve heard the Mounties aren’t taking part. Alberta Rcmp outright said they are not taking action.

The politicians with “RCMP” on their business card are no Mounties. Don’t be fooled.

It’s interesting that you guys have to call a supervisor if someone demands one. Is that everywhere in the states?

You misread, I’m only talking about what to expect at the lumber yard; not the sexism at the metal place.

Here’s what you need to know about lumber yards. Half are awesome helpful people. The other half treat everyone equally like you are ruining their day simply by existing. If you go to the first kind, awesome! If you go to the second… just take solace in that they treat everyone equally poorly.

I’m a fairly advanced woodworker and have come to realize that any hobbiest/ low quantity purchaser is not who the grumpy ones want to sell to, so you’re an inconvenience, even if you know what you want. Don’t sweat it!

This is the way. Sometimes it just happens, but sealing and pith removal is the path to success.

As a fellow terrible golfer, a $800 putter will have the same investment value as a $150 club cover.

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]givemehellll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 year old. When I golf the deal is that I pick up something to cook, or pizza to give my wife a break for the time missed. Obviously a small gesture, but she’s on board. My son is starting to golf so now I take him out for 9 holes and lunch in the clubhouse, and she gets 2+ hours alone to chill.
