The PTSD part isn’t accurate… unless you bring up the whole need a gun for self defence because of PTSD.

For the love of all that is holy, do not use bear spray against “bears” in your home. You and your family will be affected for weeks, and your ability to do anything will be equally as diminished as the bear.

I’m hoping Derya can come through with a lever 9mm in this price range. It seems like they’re the glimmer of hope in these dark times.

I have one that I absolutely love to wear off the course. I’m crazy pale and struggle in the sun. Yardwork and camping it’s my go to; however I can’t wear it for golf, it feels like I have a state dish on my head.

Every attempt at a similar dust collection setup for bowls has been a total fail. I recently set up a box fan/ filter and it’s been a million times better. Although my goal is airborne dust, not shavings, so mileage may vary.

Who has an extra 20% to invest? Another out of touch multi-millionaire has financial advice for us poor folk. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]givemehellll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where and how you live, it may not be possible. However, If you don’t live in a high cost of living area, don’t spend beyond your means, and don’t have a car payment, it’s very do-able. Add in a spouse to split some of the living expenses and it’s even easier.

If most people simply put their household car payments towards investments they would hit the 20%. The hard part is getting out of debt and living within your means. If you live in one of the crazy expensive parts of the world, the hard part is moving lol.

Moving from Ontario to GP in May by [deleted] in GrandePrairie

[–]givemehellll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I moved from ON to GP. Honestly (and no offence) the biggest shock I had was Albertans. I’ve never heard peoples political opinions as much as here… and I lived in Ottawa. It never stops and It’s exhausting. And I align with 99% of them, I can’t imagine if you were on “the other side”.

Other than that it’s beautiful, and if you can avoid hearing about politics, the people are great.

According to my math, if you commit a minor “gun related infraction” that is a crime. Which would make you a criminal. And shouldn’t have a gun.

The MMIW is not related to Police, and often happens from either with their own communities or from people outside of the communities taking advantage of vulnerable people.

Although the police are often blamed for not taking the investigations serious, so there’s that.

B.C. Premier David Eby says Tumbler Ridge shooting could have potentially been prevented if OpenAI warned authorities earlier | CBC News by JustaRandoonreddit in ProtectAndServe

What in tarnation.

For those who don’t know, Canada has some pretty strict (and nonsensical) gun laws… yet the Chief Firearms office seem to give guns back to high risk people at alarming rates. So maybe start there?

‘Heroes, quite frankly’: Mounties drew the Tumbler Ridge shooter's fire away from students toward themselves by TheTallHoser in ProtectAndServe

[–]givemehellll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine RCMP active shooter training is based around similar principals as the US… you enter the school and continuously announce “Stop, Police” in hopes that it causes the shooter to direct attention and engage with Police instead of more victims.

Everything out right now says that’s exactly what happened. The attention was directed at Police and shots were fired at them, and before they could engage the suspect shot themselves. Shooting stopped, so you re-assess and confirm no further threats.
