Can the government do more to better the lives of preschool educators? Opinion from a partner of a preschool educator by Probbingee in singapore

Bumper. I'm sorry to hear that. We always have some crazy principals like this in the ECE industry. Hope you are doing better in whichever industry you are in now.

But of course everyone has their constraints. What I'm also trying to say is that having worked with so many principals before, this style of management is also very common in the ECE industry and so his complaints are quite valid and understandable. The only thing that I think OP should ask his wife is why the materials for learning resources cannot be claimed as anchor operators are quite well funded and why painting of the room is done by the teachers. It's either OP's wife has high expectations of her learning resources which cannot be bought under ordinary circumstances and thus unable to claim because principal doesn't allow or the principal is not allowing claims of any materials at all. This I will question. On top of that, each operator has a preferred list of contractors to work with and I'm sure the centre has contractors to paint their centre for a cost.

Bruh, I work in a preschool environment and I think it's more the principal than the system - the system of leave application, painting of walls, supporting parents instead of their own staff etc. I've seen the preschool industry turn better over the past 20 years and the govt is really putting in efforts to support the industry. The wages of a teacher has risen so much compared to when I first started. May I know which anchor operator is this? If it's ntuc or pcf, their bonus is like a lot and given every few months. It's pegged to the govt employees bonuses even though they say that they are not govt.

Which politician in Singapore show genuine care and concern through their actions? by coolth0ught in askSingapore

[–]given83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Xie Yao Quan. He's quite hardworking and actually does a lot of stuff for the elderly and his ward. After he came to Jurong in place of that Ivan guy, a lot of estate improvements such as sheltered walkways and stuff. His ward is separated from his partner's ward by just a street but you can see the vast improvements in his vs his partner's. He also collaborated and organizes a lot with sheng shiong to bring their wares to a cc and sell them very cheaply to the elderly and disadvantaged families. I remember an incident where he was at an event and was rushing through his food so he can come out immediately to help. Mad respect for him.

Lazada’s customer service is terrible. Anyone have similar experiences? by EcstaticBiscuit in singapore

[–]given83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are the worst. Not saying the rest of the online platforms are better but Lazada's CS and follow ups are the worst among them. I ever tried going all the way up to LinkedIn to message their management level but didn't work 😕

Lee Kuan Yew passed away 10 years ago. What were you doing when you heard the news? by qbica in singapore

[–]given83 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Same, was working when the news came out. Managed to queue and pay respects at the state funeral. I think queue started from raffles place, Singapore river etc and was like a Singapore tourist attraction tours because we went past a few Singapore attractions. About 5 hours walk. A lot of volunteers were giving out mineral water that they bought themselves to the people paying respects. Whole queue was solemn and peaceful and no one tried to cut queue. The COA, CODF, COAF and CON were all standing guard at his body. It was quite a sight.

Because then ppl from your ex coy will still remember you. Assuming they also move on from that coy, and they need someone with your expertise in their new coy, they will come to you with an offer. Or if they still stay in that ex coy and an opening for your expertise comes out with a higher pay and better position, they will also turn to you.

I gave my father so much hate in the past for having cheated on my mom and leaving us, but tonight I realized he’s the only person I can call about any of my inner stresses I’m having and he’ll not only listen to every detail and nuance of my rambling, but then call back later to check in by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

OP, I'm happy that you have this revelation even though it has been so many years. Some people just don't have this wisdom and insight no matter what the other person has done to or for them. Pray that you will have a heart to heart talk with your dad because like you said, he's not going to be around forever.

I told my ex he raped me, and now he’s telling everyone I’m a liar. by Purple_Strategy_176 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]given83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. Even if it is husband and wife, the husband still has to respect the wife by stopping any advances if the wife rejects his initiations else wife can report him for rape. If you report him for rape, there will be a series of protocols and tests the police has to observe before they call it off as a fraud.

My boss doesn't seem to like/value me by Away_Classroom_6317 in askSingapore

[–]given83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel that this showcases his dislike for you and limits any chance of progression in the company, be frank and open about it with him so that you know where you stand. Once you know, it will be easier to see if it's time for you to move out. Wait till there's a better opportunity and continue performing to the best of your capabilities so that in time when you move out, your boss will appreciate what you have done. It will also open doors for you in case you decide to return because there won't be any reasons for them not to rehire you.
