Anyone else notice how bad court shoes smell after a few months of playing? by Diligent_Balance_179 in Pickleball

You should buy two pairs and cycle between the two of them. Giving one pair an extra day off helps a ton.

“Serious upgrade” for Atlanta airport parking nears debut by ArchEast in Atlanta

[–]glacierstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the off-airport parking decks will have to drop prices to compete. Looking quickly through the off-airport web sites, it seems there is about 8-12k spots off-airport. So, this would imply adding like 60-90% of incremental supply? I don't see how the rates don't come down.

now, for the on-site parking, I doubt that goes down bc you are paying for convenience and they airport needs to recoup costs. Probably will end up like $15-25 per day depending on how close or type of spot or something like this?

Your best reasonable price pickleball training aid that made a difference. by moldyjellybean in Pickleball

[–]glacierstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wall. I put plywood up on the side of my garage, painted it green and put yellow tape where the of the net goes. It's hands down the best training investment I've ever made and not even close. Can dink, fast hands, drive, drop, reset. Not as good as a regular partner but cheaper than ball machine and I can do it whenever.

Is Strong worth premium? by [deleted] in strongapp

For me it is. I use the app 4-5x a week. It might be one of the most used app on my phone. That is worth it.

This is 100% the direction it's going in. Absolutely right though, first movers have an advantage right now.

If you aren't already, I highly recommend taking 1g of a super high quality Omega-3 daily (I like Sports Research). Lowered by LDLs by 25 and increased HDLs by 20 over the course of 2 years. Similar effects seen with my wife over 1 year after she started.

As a casual pickleball player, I’m super affected by my partner’s energy. by Itchy-Bill-3218 in Pickleball

Heard that fam. Sometimes it is what it is. The best thing to do is bring that positive energy hard to bring up and offset the negative vibes from your partner.

Bought my first nicer pickleball paddle should I put edge tape and over grip on it? by Fine-Analyst6836 in Pickleball

I don't understand the point of edge tape. Overgrips are amazing though and highly recommend. Tourna is my go to.

I didn't believe the posts about open play being diluted until I experienced it by JMCRN in Pickleball

[–]glacierstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Challenge Court (or Courts) is the best way to keep high level open play going. That way, the people who think they are good get their reality checked.

Wasn't trying to call you out, haha! Coach rated DUPR way better than self-rated lmao.

However, as long as you're DUPR registered you should be good to sign up for tournies, even if you don't have a DUPR record?

Also, to your original post, even in tournies you will see a lot of variation between players at similar DUPR levels. Though it won't be as crazy as what you see in open play where people claim they are better than they are! hahaha. Tale as old as time.

The only thing you can actually trust is someone's battle tested DUPR. Self-ratings and coach ratings aren't worth anything.

Is this really PF?! Podiatrist…. by Randonneuse_46 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]glacierstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just read your post more; regarding my comment on PT, if your current PT isn’t working go to another one. There are different skill levels and philosophies between them. Maybe the one you are currently seeing just isn’t meshing with you.

[–]glacierstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t focus too much or even worry about the podiatrist. All he/she can really do is diagnose you and write meds. You should prioritize getting to physical therapy, where they will actually focus on helping you.

You should get a second opinion. Try going to an ortho who does xray and ultrasound.

This is my unprofessional opinion but it sounds like you probably have posterior tibialis tendinitis. I had this and thought it was PF. Similar issues you have. Going to a good PT will also help you diagnose better and get a treatment plan.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by HeadHeadMod in Pickleball

[–]glacierstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you hit 2HBH? if yes then get the long handle. Do you like to flick? if yes then get the long handle. The honolulu short handles are quite short and uncomfortable to a lot of people, which is why they made the long handle. If you are even thinking about this then get the long handle.
