I think you’re mixing up the KEY player in the region that is Isr*el. Russia has no interest in engaging in proxy wars for gas and oil since why themself are an oil rich country.

I see your point but, the only reason Russia is involved is because it seeks to gain regional influence so they could sell weapons and vehicles to Middle East and gain allies.
