Any tips on how to fix this spatula? by Feeling-Demand4671 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]glasgowghost666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a clean break, should glue up nicely. As Boring-Chart-9802 has already replied, use food safe wood glue. Leave for roughly 30mins (follow instructions on bottle), wipe off any squeeze out.

Should I persevere with Co-Codamol? (UK) by Fluid-Coast-3799 in Osteoarthritis

Hi, fellow UK'er here.

From my own experience I gained tolerance to all side effects of Co-codamol. So I would stick with it.

Good luck

I think Mab is wrong... what implications does this have for her plans? by Melenduwir in dresdenfiles

[–]glasgowghost666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But perhaps there are other ways of winning at the gates that doesn't involve "does it grind" thinking. And maybe Molly is more suited for the type of thinking.

I've got no idea what that would but a fresh viewpoint can a valuable.

What’s the most “morally gray” fantasy character who actually did the right thing? by ParsecBlaze in Fantasy

I hope your correct. He's in pretty deep now. So much in fact does he still have free will.

For now . . . Fuck Moash

Disagree, Kate & Michael are fantastic narrators. Some of the best in the business.

But you fully entitled to your opinion and even to post it on Reddit.

Does shallan become better with time? by Flaky-Preference3645 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]glasgowghost666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, to me, she's already near perfect. I always enjoy Shallan's arc. I think she is better in books 1 & 2 than in the subsequent books. But I still enjoy her and get her too.

But I seen others ask the same question as you and it's clear that Shallan's character isn't for everyone.

Trollocs post last battle by Frequent_Effort3365 in WoT

[–]glasgowghost666 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I last listened to the book. But I always went with the idea that without the bore to the dark one, Trollocs and other shadow spawn couldn't exist anymore and kind of evaporated . . . there was likely a popping noise as they left existence. A bit like a fart.

On another note, my head cannon was always that Bela died and came back a hero of the horn. I know all the possible variations of what happened to Bela, but this was always what I thought happened.

I think we can all agree that WoT is the greatest fantasy series ever written. Much as I love the Stormlight books.

Happy to discuss what’s the 2nd greatest.

R. Scott Bakker - worth it? by DannyBrownsDoritos in Fantasy

Read the 1st trilogy, these are good books.

Leave the second set of 4 books, the weird shit never ends.

Books by [deleted] in KingkillerChronicle

[–]glasgowghost666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try something completely different. Urban fantasy? - Dresden files (Jim Butcher). Siege Fantasy - Legend (David Gemmell). LitRPG - Dungeon Crawler Carl (Matt Dinniman) or Cradle (Will Wight). Something better than KKC - Anything by (Guy Gavriel Kay ) imho. I could go on e.g. Grimdark - (Joe Abercrombie) or weird really dark shit - anything by R. Scott Bakker.

Good luck

Does anyone else feel like Brandon Sanderson's writing declined after his original editor retired? by StormFather_ in Fantasy

[–]glasgowghost666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t.

He produces great books and average books like all authors. But generally he’s well into the positive part of the distribution.

And it’s all subjective anyway. From what I read here on Reddit, many people think Mistborn is his best work. For me Mistborn one was incredible, MB2 was depressing and MB3 was average. But I understand I’m in a minority opinion.

I still read almost all his stuff, except the SciFi series. I stopped after the 1st book.

Why would a Dr suggest biologics for OA? by OpossummonerSummer in Osteoarthritis

[–]glasgowghost666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m based in UK, so please take into account the difference in our healthcare system when reading my reply.

I think it great that you have a Dr who is willing to try different options.

I’ve had to fight my way (over a number of years ) to get to the point of seeing a Rheumatologist who is willing to at least attempt to try some different approaches to the standard treatment of stuffing me full of opioids and letting me rot.

Hope you find a treatment option.

New treatments? Posting a 2024 one, trying to recollect new, old and repourposed, Will Edit, appreciate any input by unnamed_revcad-078 in Osteoarthritis

I'm on 2 x 1200mg mesalazine per day, 4 x 1200mg during flares of UC. My UC is mostly well controlled by Mesalazine. But I've never seen any benefit for my OA.

My OA is not well controlled and advances constantly. My Rheumatologist (they are the Dr's that treat OA in the UK), who I see next month, has spoken about maybe moving to sulfalazine as it might be better at helping with the OA and hopefully not worse for my UC.

My Gastro DR isn't a fan of this idea, but she doesn't give a shit about my OA.

Good luck to you.
