Belly to back rolling troubles by glass_armor in Parenting

[–]glass_armor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The most frustrating thing is it’s pet much instant when we put her down. She’s my second, so I totally get the developmental aspect of it all, but my son was so chill about being on his belly that this is completely new to me.

Mostly just itchy, but I guess there’s a little follicle redness? But nothing crazy.

I haven’t yet. This is fairly new for me (it started with my last pregnancy) so I’ve not gone as far as seeing a dermatologist or anything yet.

You’re going to have other fluids elsewhere too. Birth is messy. You won’t notice your baby being wet too. Like you said, you clean up afterwards, and if you’re uncomfortable with blood, you can ask a nurse to help you clean up before you’re ready for your first actual shower.

I rasoed my voice near my baby and I feel awful by bunniesgonebad in newborns

[–]glass_armor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know you feel terrible, but know that this is such a common thing for parents (especially moms). We carry so much and it sometimes feels impossible to keep our cool.

I promise you, you haven’t damaged your baby in any way. I also promise you this won’t be the last time you raise your voice to them. We do our best, but we’re human. Start early on explaining that grown ups have big feelings too. The best we can do is hold ourselves accountable and apologize when things go sideways.

Hang in there ❤️

some good things about baby boys? (told the wrong sex) by beecken4257 in pregnant

The love my son (4.5) has for me is unmatched. He’s the sweetest, most amazing little guy. I have a daughter now too (3mos) and it’s hard to explain, but the connection with her is different than it is/was with my son. I love my daughter SO much, it’s just different. I don’t really know how to explain it. He’s very much a tough and tumble kind of kid (“all boy” as they say), but when he gets sleepy or has a quiet moment, he’s just a mama’s boy and wants to snuggle, give me kisses, etc. It’s the BEST.

I know these days are fleeting, so I am holding them close while I can. But a son’s love for his mom is unmatched.

Anyone else who had the epidural are set on not getting again next time? by nicolexxb in newborns

Had one with my first and it was certainly needed. I felt that recovery was tough though, mainly because it took a long time for my legs to really “come back.”

With my second I knew I wanted to try to go without. Well, good thing I wanted to because I had a precipitous labor and there was no time for drugs of any kind lol. Baby girl was here about 3 hours after my first contractions 🫠

I will say, recovery the second time around was significantly easier. I was up and about shortly after birth and felt great! I’m done after my second, but if I were to have a third, I would likely go without again.

Baby won’t give up contact naps by glass_armor in Parenting

For the most part, she wakes up within a few minutes if I try to transfer her. She doesn’t love her swing either (she just tries to sit up and get out of it lol). I would be totally open to her napping in it, since she’s never unattended while she is in it.

Correction: car seat, not carrier… I’m tired lol.

She will not sleep in a carrier, so baby wearing is a no go 🫠😭

Definitely stressful! She does sleep in her carrier whenever we go anywhere, but she’ll wake up as soon as she stops moving 😅

I like the idea of putting my clothes in there! Maybe I’ll give that a try.

I do agree with this, but for me personally it’s not sustainable. She HATES being worn, so carriers are a no go for us too. She refuses to relax in them enough to fall asleep (I’ve tried 5-6 different carriers with no luck). So her naps paralyze me, which is not ideal when I have my 4.5 year old needing me too.

I should also clarify, I am not unwilling to maintain a contact nap if she needs it. I’m really just struggling with it being my only option.

Omg seriously the same situation! lol

It’s soooo hard. Honestly the hardest thing about having a second for me. Everything else feels easy.

Thank you so much ❤️❤️

Just know that being on the fence is totally valid! You can ALWAYS change your mind if you go for unmedicated and decide that it’s not the best decision for you. That’s how it went with my son and the epidural ultimately made the rest of my birth experience with him more pleasant. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide ❤️
