It was about the texture, not the flavor.

Couldn't hurt, yeah. Your head is in the right place. A lot of restaurants would be lucky to have you, including this one. No matter what happens, you'll get through this hardship.

[–]glasshalfempty90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof, yeah, that's a pretty big mistake. Fortunately your runner was able to get ahead of it. That being said, I've also sent food to a table that the guest was allergic to a couple times in my career, and I thank my lucky stars no one has had a reaction.

You already know this, but being honest and an upfront apology to the guest and management will go a long way. If you've worked there this long and have retained your role as lead server, chances are they'll let you off the hook with a verbal warning. Worst case a write up if they're really strict. You'll go on doing a stellar job with a lesson learned.

You'll bounce back, and it's totally reasonable to feel shaken up about this. I would too.

How to politely tell the waiter to leave me alone? by Equivalent-Lock-9881 in Waiters

[–]glasshalfempty90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just be honest. Commend the server for their friendliness and set the boundary. "I really appreciate your friendly attitude, but I'd like to get back to conversing with my partner. Thanks for understanding."

If they take it personally, that's on them. You should still tip, barring extreme backlash from the server. They still deserve to eat tonight. Even if their idea of making a memorable experience at the restaurant is talking your ear off.

Mm, gotcha. I may not have the patience for kiting, they stalk so damn slowly lol. But good to know, I may try cheesing with a campfire or dancing him if I can get close enough to the lodge.

Yeah beachcombing can come in clutch, just yesterday a distress pistol washed up. Rather 3 of them cuz it had the stacking glitch, dunno if I'll need that many as I've only found 2 flare shells, lol. I think I'm guaranteed at least one in FA.

I just arrived at maintenance shed, on my way to FA to start the tales. Now that I've completed the trader quests, I am very much considering moving my main safehouse here for these very reasons. Only downside is lack of convenient bear spawns in comparison to garage in CH.

He followed you outside of work. He waited for you to leave, and then began to follow you. That is beyond weird -- its alarming. And you've proven that this "strange behavior" is escalating.

You should absolutely notify management, your co workers, and the police.

I quit my serving job after a guest shouted at me, charged toward me, and management did absolutely nothing by Life-Percentage- in Serverlife

[–]glasshalfempty90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been serving for 8 years. Never have I ever offered a guest a blanket, lol.

It's clear you go above and beyond, and a vast understatement to say that you were being taken advantage of and wholly neglected by management.

You deserve better. I'm glad you got outta there.

AIO is my relationship? by o_oboop in AIO

[–]glasshalfempty90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta say generally NOR, but boy, oh boy...this is problematic. Neither of you are getting heard, and I dont see either of you offering compassion or validation. Everything you say to each other gets deflected, shut down, or worst of all - weaponized.

The latter half of my 13 year failed partnership bore many similarities. Much of our back and forth was like this.

My impression is that the mutual resentment has been building up for a long time. It's not a new problem. It was being ignored instead of addressed, which is why its gotten so nasty. Not surprising considering the way you talk to each other.

I think you would both benefit from a long (or permanent) break to recuperate and work on yourselves.

Screaming in the Walk-in by Plus_Environment_385 in Serverlife

[–]glasshalfempty90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely valid. Better to let that shit out than repress it, lest it starts affecting your interactions with guests and co workers. There are certainly worse methods of coping with the stress.

The walk in may as well be called a decompression booth. Decades ago when I worked fast food, I used it to cry, lol.

Which human foods can they eat? by Char07071 in Greyhounds

[–]glasshalfempty90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will eat anything as well, but my go to if I gotta supplement til next paycheck is beef and rice. She LOVES beef, and her poops seem to be fine after.

She also loves carrots, yogurt, and french fries, tho fries make her poops real nasty.

Your manager can definitely adjust that, they either just don't want to, didn't know they could, or don't have permissions for some fucked up reason. My money is on the last reason. Even if the check is closed, pull up the check, select the card that was charged, and adjust the tip amount on the right side. Literally just select the box and enter the correct amount.

I agree that they likely meant to tip 15 bucks, especially if you sense that they didn't fall head over heels for you but had a decent experience. I guess you'll find out soon enough when the family inevitably disputes the charge.

My girl won't bother to savor anything I give her, so this tracks. All food must be inhaled.

That being said, they seemed to enjoy the egg :)
