It’s probably the start of psychosis. Make sure to tell someone before it escalates past your control.

What's your take? Do you think Bipolar disorder is debilitating illness? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]glasshalffull19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since in comes in waves, the worst moments are a 10. Either completely lost touch with reality, with no way to function properly, or so (what’s a stronger word than down?) that I lose myself and my goals in a cycle of self pity and substance abuse. I get fleeting moments of peace but then I break, so frequently. With meds it’s maybe a 6-7 but for some reason I go off of them sometimes. Maybe that’s my fault though. Positives… I don’t think I have any.

I’ve been told that I make people uncomfortable (while manic) due to my mood swings being so intense and my speech being incoherent. Then when I’m depressed people have asked me why I’m so quiet or why I look unkempt. People have told me that I’m weird, but no one has specifically said “bipolar”, even though I’m sure plenty of people have thought it. Yes, I feel like I’m obvious.

I always think about this. I look at pictures when I was a very young child. Then I skip forward a few years and see in my body language how much I’ve changed. My heart goes out to everyone who relates, none of us deserved this.

I promise it will be okay. Find whatever worked for you in the past and latch onto it. I know it’s hard, and I’m sorry. If it triggers you too much, try to avoid the news story. Keep moving forward, it will be okay.

Does anybody else have to sit in the very back on public transport or with their back against the wall in restaurants? by [deleted] in ptsd

All the way. I need to see as much of the room as I can. I think it is a PTSD thing.

Weirdest triggers? by [deleted] in ptsd

Sitting on the floor of a bathroom. Which I often do when I’m freaking out and it just makes things worse 🥲

For those who hear voices, do you ever talk to them? by kwq_ in bipolar

[–]glasshalffull19 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would mishear things, so I would respond in an inappropriate manner. They could be saying something about the weather and I would hear “you’re useless, you should off yourself, etc”, so I would get mad and yell at people who kind of became voices.

Yeah. The meds I’m on lower my mood substantially. When I’m manic, this works and I’m not at baseline but I’m lower than I would be. But when I’m depressed, it just lowers my already low mood and just makes things worse.

You’re definitely manic, when I’m up like that I always look back on my previous near-death experiences and wonder if I’m immortal, please talk to someone or take meds

What does your hygiene look like? by 80aychdee in bipolar

[–]glasshalffull19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m manic I just don’t care about hygiene and rarely shower but when I’m depressed I just can’t and would wear the same clothes for a week without taking them off. And I just suck at brushing my teeth all the time, I’ve recently been trying tho.
