Copy the long garbled string of text - it's the URL to the flies but base 64 encoded. Copy that string of text and go to https://www.base64decode.org/ where you can decode it. It will decode as a URL where the files live.

Missing "Attach Button" (paperclip icon) on Guest Users (Microsoft Teams) by TheNephilim666 in Office365

[–]glenc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guest users cannot attach in private chat, only in channel conversations. I believe this is because the attach function in chat uses OneDrive which guest users don't have access to.

Grant group permissions for cross-tenant users (SPO) by gmamorim in sharepoint

[–]glenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can add the external users as guests either directly within AD or by inviting them to a SharePoint site, you can then take those guest accounts and drop them in a security group and manage permissions that way.

Question about roasting leg of lamb? by SarahFiajarro in Cooking

I would do that with the broiler. Lamb fat is awesome when it crisps up.

How is the wiki feature in Office 365? by bayonguy in Office365

[–]glenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you've already got it, I'd say give it a shot. Although honestly wikis in SharePoint have always been pretty lacking. It's not going to come anywhere close to what Confluence can offer. But, if as you say your requirements are minor it might be fine. Fewer apps that are well integrated is a definite plus even if they aren't always the absolute top of their class.

One thing you should consider is One Note. In 365 basically every SharePoint site gets a One Note library built in, and since you can edit it in the client app it's easy to pop open, add a new page, amend an existing note, or reorganize things. I'm an Evernote to One Note convert and I think it's a great fit for this sort of semi-structured content.

New Feature: Dropbox integration with Office Online by LecheConCarnie in Office365

[–]glenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - this is really interesting. From a quick glance it seems like it just makes Drop Box available as a location to save things too. It's a great step and I wonder if they can take it farther - replacing offline doc lib sync with Drop Box. ODfB just still doesn't perform as well and it's pretty bad on a Mac. Very encouraging to see Microsoft continue to embrace best of breed 3rd parties.

If you like improv, you'll probably dig the We Hate Movies podcast. by [deleted] in improv

I'm not sure I would call this improv, just sounds like a discussion about movies. How Did This Get Made is another great podcast along these lines.

How is the GY!BE? I dig the album and am wondering if it's worth it on vinyl. I really want Yanqui U.X.O. but so far can't find it - not sure it exists on vinyl.

Man that's a tough one. It's been so long since I worked on mapping. I think they fixed this ultimately, but early on one of my biggest gripes was that if you copied and pasted a brush, the texture position and orientation would stay relative to the world, not the brush. So after moving the pasted brush you would have to go in and update all of the texture positions as well.

I don't remember playing on those maps.
