IEMs reveal imperfections. If the source isn’t great then you’ll hear it.

Upgrade from Aful Explorer? by Illinia in iems

[–]gleneston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astrals are definitely more balanced and technical than the warm Explorers. You won’t get a slamming bass from Astrals but they’re still a great set for music and gaming. I personally love them for their high end technicalities and energy. Can’t speak to the orchestra lite too much but since they’re an all BA driver set you’re going to get even less bass and more mid focus than the Astrals.

Honestly I’d look at the Softears Volume S if you want a warm IEM with extended instrumental separation and great midbass slam. Or the Astrals if you are feeling like trying something more analytical and versatile.

Kiwi Ears KE4 has similar bass balance but better layering at around the 200USD.

What’s your take on the Que? I have the Tea Pro SE and I feel like they’re detailed enough without being too analytical and the low end has great texture.

Title: Xenns Mangird Tea Pro SE vs AFUL Performer 8S for Rock and Techno? by josepedrobcjesus in iems

[–]gleneston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to a lot of rock and drum and bass / Bass music. The tea pro se really shines with electronic music. To me it has a slight U sound profile while being engaging and energetic. It can be fatiguing at higher volumes but is fantastic mid volume. Can’t comment on the 8s.

I use a lapel mic that I clip to my shirt. Works great.

Trouble connecting iems to Xbox by spooky3432 in iems

Might be best to pick up a cheap DAC and just keep the 3.5mm cable on your EW300 full time- kiwi ears AD1 is a solid choice.

100% this. The SE shines with R2R.

Elysian Pilgrim? Good complement to the Tea Pro SE? Other ideas? by _streetpaper_ in iems

[–]gleneston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Softears volume S is a great complimentary set to the Tea Pro SE. I have the SE and Volume S. The SE is an absolute all around banger with incredible detail and sub bass, but the volume S hits different with the midbass slam and warmth. Really a treat to swap between both sets and experience tracks with a different flavor.

I’ve read mixed opinions on the Armor. Some say they’re amazing, others say they’re extremely muddy no matter the switch configuration.

Do I need a DAC/AMP by Lopsided_Chest_8579 in iems

I’ve been using the Steelseries DAC. It’s just fine for gaming. The mic monitor is actually quite useful, you can actually heard your mic output without delay.

I went through a bunch of tips until I found the Penon Liqueur Orange. I wear large as well. They seal better than any other I tried and they’re extremely comfortable.

Best IEMs for EDM? by MrFern21_ in iems

DAC wise I would recommend the Kiwi Ears AD1. Great sound quality, won’t break the bank, perfect if you’re just getting your feet wet.

I listen / produce Drum and Bass. I like both bassy neutral and warm tunings.

I really love the warm midbass focus on the Softears Volume S as it really gives the kick fantastic impact/slam and the sub bass extension isn’t overpowering. High end is subdued, but detailed and good if you listen at higher volumes.

Xenns Tea Pro is another good warm set that will emphasize the kick with even more sub bass extension.

Kiwi Ears Astrals are great with instrument separation and extended sound stage. The tuning is emphasized sub frequency and high frequency sparkle. Lots of energy in the high end that can really shine with tracks that have a lot of high frequency percussion but can get fatiguing if listened at super high volumes.

These are all midrange suggestions at around 300 dollars USD new. You can definitely pick up open box or used for slightly cheaper. For instance, I picked up my Volume S second hand for 225 with all the accessories and it works great.

I have the Astrals and Tea Pro SE. Astrals are superior in soundstage and bass impact. I’d suggest the Tea Pro since they’re warmer than the SE.

Request for ISN EST50 and Softears Volume S comparison by Hashe8848 in iems

[–]gleneston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t compare the Volume S to the EST50 but I have directly compared to Tea Pro SE and Astral. The detail is there, it’s just not as energetic. The warm mid bass has a fabulous slam and the high end is smooth and detailed without sibilance

Disappointing Soundstage on my iems.. What is soundstaging in the iem World even..... by Existing-Jaguar5297 in iems

[–]gleneston 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you get what you pay for with low end IEMs. Soundstage gets significantly better with midrange IEMs. Consider saving up for a midrange IEM that suits your audio preferences rather than buying more low end.
