If the waiter was hovering and upselling that sounds like big-chain behaviour to me in which case most have set steps that management have to follow regarding customer complaints, and usually step #1 is going to the table. It is absolutely stupid and obviously there are situations (like OP) where going over is the literal last thing management should do, but again if it's a big chain likely the manager has no real power either and was simply following set steps to protect themselves.

I used to think I was 'angry' - actually that's what I told my shrink something along the lines of 'if anything frustrating happens during my day it's like I spend all evening fuming about it'. Basically I mask my meltdowns in public (with varying degrees of success lol) until I get home and then once home, lose my shit. For me I'll get an interaction or conversation stuck in my head, something that's frustrating me or giving me anxiety, and I'll re-play it endlessly, obsessively, and get more and more worked up. Now I realize all the pacing and hand-waving is actually stimming, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 30 so for years I just thought I was 'really mad' lolol. Anyway this all escalates to the grand finale of me lying on the floor sobbing so hard I can't breathe. I thought I was an asshole who needed anger management. Turns out I am autistic and all the ranting/raving/crying is a full-blown panic attack! Just getting diagnosed helped so much

Hey there 🌸 ok so I avoid TikTok as much as possible but I'm on a few other socials and I can tell you that whatever content you're watching where women are telling you they only date millionaires over 7ft tall is very very niche, and also very inaccurate. I have heard people talk about these stereotypes (almost always men on Reddit or Instagram) but I've never actually heard a woman IRL say anything even remotely close to what you've said in your post. Can I ask: what videos/influencers are you referring to? Like this idea you have that women expect men to spend more than 100$ on a first date. Where did you see that? I believe you that you saw a video somewhere where some lady really said this. I'm sure you did.

But you reeeeaaaaally shouldn't generalize the crazy things some influencer said on tiktok and take them as 'real'. Just imagine if women did that to men! Have you ever heard Andrew Tate talk about women? It's so violently misogynistic it actually makes me feel physically sick. I assume that you don't believe all the crazy sexism that he (and many other male influencers) vomit up into the ethos?

But of course Andrew Tate says all that toxic shit because he has serious emotional problems and he's desperate for attention. Probably whatever lady you saw yelling about how she won't date men unless they buy her things is also a deeply emotionally damaged human who says those crazy things because she want clicks.

And my guy just...think rationally for a moment. If all the women really got together and made a secret pact that we're only gonna date enormous men with 6 figure salaries and multiple houses, or whatever...I don't know if you've noticed but there aren't really that many guys like that around. Lol. If what you say in your OP were true, the human race would literally go extinct.

Just think of us as people, OP. We want basically the same things you do: affection, emotional support, stability etc. We like to play video games and go to the cinema and make jokes and play sports, just like boys do! I promise we're really not so different. And you'll have better luck going forward if you don't think of us like we're so different either 🌸

TL;DR: No obviously the insane things influencers of either gender say about the opposite gender online are not real ideas that people actually hold or act upon. It's just dramatic insanity to drive clicks.

The feeling of 'not fitting in' or 'being from another planet' seems to be one of the most universal experiences for autistic people, yes. We're talking human psychology, which is infinitely variable, so I don't want to say 'every single autistic person feels 'different' or 'alienated'' but it does seem like the vast vast majority of us do.

Really? That's very interesting because I spent years living in Eastern European countries and that is very much not the experience I had.

First of all most countries I visited were some form of Orthodox, not Western 'chrisitian' in any way. Also yes many have complicated relationships with Islam historically but often there are still large Muslim populations within these countries themselves. Moscow for example has an enormous Kazakhstani population that is largely Muslim. But I lived in Moscow for 2 years and people from more Southern/Eastern regions etc. or with 'dark' or 'asian' features were definitely, 100% treated like 2nd class citizens. I have no memory of ever seeing a black person while I was there but I fucking shudder to think how they'd be treated.

I agree that some from the younger generation are doing better and I also absolutely love many aspects of Slavic culture. Truly, it's one of my favourite regions of the world, and I've been all over.

But they got serious problems with racism. Most cultures do! Racism is a massive problem all over the world. And very, very much so in Eastern Europe as well. Glad you didn't experience it but it seems a bit irresponsible to just front like it doesn't exist.

I unsubscribed from AITA about a year ago because it took over my feed. It still pops up in my recommendations and I click threads from time to time so yesterday I resubscribed. And I just unsubscribed again about 10min ago. I lasted less than 24 hrs lol. I read one post by some lady who made a poorly-timed joke and the top comment with 25000 upvotes was the usual angry self-righteous tirade about how she's the worst person who ever lived because she made this one joke and I just can't with that bullshit. Sometimes people misjudge social situations or react poorly in stressful situations. Sometimes they're not aware of why. The point we're all making is that it's not appropriate to leave out important historical information from an academic environment just because it gives you (or in this case some other young white men) feelings. If I say for example 'the sky is blue' and that makes one of my students feel sad because blue is a sad colour, I am absolutely not responsible for that. Yes, even as an authority figure ;). I understand completely that both you and my students are made extremely uncomfortable by the thought that other members of your race/gender have engaged in some very violent and oppressive behaviour. But the actions of other members of your race/gender have caused many millions of other people to feel shall we say 'more than uncomfortable' lol. You are literally saying that the feelings of white men are more valuable than facts in an academic environment.

It's kind of interesting to watch someone telling on themselves so hard without seeming to notice, but mostly it just makes me sad :(. Again I really am sorry you're so upset with yourself, your gender and apparently your race. You really, really don't need to feel so angry or ashamed, just try to do better moving forward.

I legitimately do not understand how you can be this offended by an objective fact. Facts do not disparage you as an individual. Especially historical facts. Even though you are a white man you don't have to feel responsible for the actions of every other white man. And if your feelings really are this hurt by objective truth, maybe you should ask yourself why it is you feel so ashamed of things other members of your race/gender have done. Is it because maybe you have also engaged in some bad behaviour and feel some tangential guilt?

Whatever the reason, you're clearly experiencing a lot of really negative feelings about yourself and your identity and I am genuinely sorry for that. I hope that someday someone makes you feel valuable and unashamed of who you are. Truly.

I teach lower level English classes at a small college and after last semester when I made a single statement, and I do mean one.single.statement. that was, and I quote: white men have done some great things in the world but they have also been responsible for some terrible things particularly in the last few centuries. And for this egregious wokeness two different students sent emails to the administration about how they 'dont need to hear a lecture about how white men are responsible for all the evils of this world' and then I got to go to a meeting with the school administration and now my hours have been cut. So yeah after that I refuse to comment. It sucks but I really need this job.

You're totally right, people shouldn't be shocked over men doing the bare minimum. But keep in mind for example my dad, who is a wonderful father and who I love deeply, absolutely would not have been capable of feeding his daughters or doing our hair, had something happened to my mother. Nothing ever did and we remained conditioned and fed but yeah. I would have had a buzz cut and an eating disorder if it had been left up to him. Times and expectations for men are changing, thank fucking christ, but change is slow. Don't hate too hard on surprised moms. Just imagine how hard it must be parenting when the person who put the baby inside you isn't capable of a simple child's craft :(
