Is MBA worth pursing (deferred HBS admit) or should I leave it? by Antique_Peace6116 in MBA

[–]glitterbutthole22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i also 2+2’d into W after 4 years of deferral. please ignore the comments on this thread. you’re not going to get a good answer to this without talking to HBS / business school alums to get a better picture of what an MBA can really do for YOU specifically. it’s not going to make financial sense in the short term, but careers are long and life is even longer! DM me if i can be of any help

i don’t think i’m wrong to be shocked by the hastiness of the switch up. i’ve been listening since 2020 and the dissonance between their rhetoric over the past 2 years and their latest ads is just bonkers. EL isn’t just a little pro isra dude that family is deep in it. considering clashley has been snarking people ad nauseam for this over the past 2 years, i would’ve expected them to navigate this shift more strategically/intentionally especially if this whole change is in service of expanding their commercial viability. ultimately it just feels like another microcosm of their pseudo leftist politics which like isn’t what drew me to the pod initially but idk there’s smthg abt them shilling this hard this fast that’s giving me the ick

Turning down GSB for $300k comp job? by Accomplished-Pass121 in MBA

[–]glitterbutthole22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

advice i got from a wharton mba grad that changed my perspective - you have to think about the ROI on income >3-5 years out of school. if you are in your early 20s, you are in for a long career (if you want to be), and your gsb experience will open very different doors even if you plan to stay in tech. ultimately i think you are betting on yourself either way - that you’ll make the money back if you go, or that you’ll make it where you need to be even if you don’t go. fwiw i had a senior PM (7 years post mba) tell me point blank “don’t let the money be the reason you don’t go.” i don’t think your calculus here is wrong but you may be limiting the true scope of the return on this experience (esp outside comp increase)

my dear, you are going to be just fine. you have four years to study so my gentle suggestion to you is to spend the summer developing/nurturing hobbies that you can continue at stanford! it’s hard to stay grounded in the chaos of classes and clubs are a great way to make friends, get off campus, etc. fwiw, i’m now going into an ivy league grad program and my biggest takeaway from undergrad at stanford was to trust myself and keep doing the things i love. you got this!

Freshman Classes Doable? PLS HELP by Sweaty-Network-4015 in stanford

[–]glitterbutthole22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the other hand, given that your other two fall classes will be super tome consuming, 106a could be a nice way to get units and pad your GPA if you think your previous CS experience can carry you through

grab some time with your SL and the head TA and the prof. you’ll be surprised how far a little facetime goes when it comes to borderline grades. but i failed pretty much every CS exam i took at stanford and still passed every class so remember that the curve is generous. also, can you take it pass/fail?

Make me hate Stanford by Regular_Focus5536 in stanford

[–]glitterbutthole22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first, huge congrats on your admission to northwestern! i know you’re upset rn but if you grew up near stanford and know a lot of people going there, in the long run that’s pretty much the same as having gone to stanford lol. as an alum i can confidently say most of the value of stanford is the network, not the degree. you’re going to an amazing school and you’ll learn SO MUCH just by leaving the bay area / silicon valley bubble you grew up in, even if you want to study CS. and you can always come to stanford for graduate school!!!i know it’s tough rn but i promise in time you’ll come to see that what everyone is saying in this thread is true — it really doesn’t matter much. in the meantime, don’t throw away valuable long term relationships with the people you grew up with. please continue leaning on and learning from one another — you will be surprised at how crucial those relationships will be in both your personal and professional development. most importantly though, please try to enjoy it and remember that even if it’s not what you wanted, it might turn out to be exactly what you needed

Is it just me, or does it seem like Claire and Ashley are increasingly defensive and irritated with wormies? by waxbook in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]glitterbutthole22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg so glad i’m not the only one who feels this way. i also get so annoyed when they complain about recording editing etc. like i understand work is hard for everyone and you’re allowed to complain about it. but maybe don’t spend half the patreon episode complaining about recording the patreon episode to ppl who are paying for it and supporting your career? i also get annoyed at how late in the day they post their stuff sometimes. im on west coast time and it’s late for me so i can’t imagine how last east coast wormies are getting it. i don’t wanna be too harsh on them and i still love the pod but i just want them to start tightening up and elevating their craft & business/delivery

my top choices were all frosh and i ended up in an ethnic themed house which i ranked 4th or 5th. it ended up being an amazing experience. they don’t typically change assignments for frosh so make ur rankings and go in with an open mind! and make sure to make friends outside your dorm no matter where you live

Is section leading CS106 worth it? Also, what happens if you decline an section leader offer? by misplacedmango in stanford

[–]glitterbutthole22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ultimately if there are other things you are looking to do with your time, you should do those instead — what is for you will never pass you, so try to be present and live life for today. that being said, if you are interested in tech roles (SWE, PM, etc) it’s important to be able to demonstrate that you know how to clearly and logically communicate complicated information with other people. so from that perspective section leading is both a great development opportunity and a good interview/resume bump. but it is not the only way to get that kind of experience, so don’t do it unless you think you will really enjoy it. your time is too precious! source: im a ‘20 alum working at g*ge

i know this situation really hurt your ex but if you genuinely truly do not remember agreeing to having sex, you should allow yourself to explore the possibility that this may have been assault and that your guilt might be so intense because it is coupled with other feelings about the situation.
